#LateLate: On the need for (some) compassion for Mr Tubridy…

It’s easy enough to clatter in behind the crowd, but Sean O’Rourke made chairing a radio debate with 7 candidates sound a doddle.. Well, it isn’t… And O’Rourke is the most exceptionally focused of broadcast journalists… So, here’s the prophetic Des Bishop, on the national role of the host of the Late Late Show over most of the last forty years…

  • Random act of kindness for today (I had to look it up, knowing what turbidity was but not the person).

Its a wonderful institution the Late Late
esp when compared to the ol’ smutty J Ross of the UK.

The english have binned him in favour of increasingly
    dull vote-out talent competitions:
Catering, Singing, Ballroon Dancing , BIg Bro & celeb off-shoots

Radio is truly the only treasure left with lil’ gems like this:

“Fergal Keane reflects on the vital human instinct of compassion”

    Only 18 hrs left 🙂

  • Streaming filth doesn’t release my laughter ducts. This American comedian’s performance [youtube] is more to my taste. Perhaps the Late Late show should let him loose on the presidential candidates 🙂

  • Drumlins Rock

Ah Radio 4, that is a true institution.

I think i watched the LLS twice, once I happened to see Westlife in the dungarees, and the second time Peter Brooke singing Clementine. Brooke at least sang, not mimed.

DR – Selective amnesia, I fear. But don’t worry, there is help for the condition.

joeCanuck: no fear of getting turbidity and Tubridy confused. Here’s another from Wikipedia:

“Turbidity is the cloudiness or haziness of a fluid caused by individual particles ( suspended solids) that are generally invisible to the naked eye.”

Tubridy’s cloudiness is visible, and all but unwatchable.

PS Thanks for the Fergal Keane link, ITW. Heard it just in time. Lovely.
