One of the Flatlake Literary festival organisers Writer Patrick McCabe sips a glass of red as Eamonn McCann and Robert Fisk hold forth on the Butty Barn stage. Great festival despite the a wee drop o rain on Sunday.

    ‘Slyvia Plath’s in the Ra’
    I always suspected it! 🙂

Like RS I’m annoyed; I keep missing the cool stuff.

McCann and Fisk on the same stage? The perfect cure for chronic insomnia.

  • That stage is quite interesting what with the piles of real books and the flying cows on the backdrop.

Reminds me of Wordsworth’s Daffodils. Some years ago they found an early manuscript which in addition to the words (and certain letters with giveaway long tails) and crossing outs contained doodles. The opening line was in fact:

I wandered lonely as a sheep

Above it was a doodle of a sheep (try it and see)

Sheep had then been crossed out and cloud substituted.

To my certain knowledge this draft has never been published.

I was there last year. It is ok, but to be honest it is one of those things that sounds better on paper than the reality of it.

So you have not missed much.
