Sir Keir Starmer has thrown his full support behind Rachel Reeves, saying she will remain Chancellor “into the next election and for many years after,” following an emotional moment during Prime Minister’s Questions. Reeves was reportedly seen in tears, prompting speculation online. Her spokesperson later clarified she had been dealing with a “personal matter,” while Starmer was quick to stress that her tears had “nothing to do with politics.”
But come on—if she was crying about politics, who could blame her? Maybe it was despair over just how feeble and uninspiring this Labour government has become. Has there ever been a more disappointing Labour administration ever?
Starmer’s crew came in on the promise of transformation, but what we’ve got is a rebranded status quo. No bold vision, no radical reforms, just managerial platitudes and softly-spoken triangulation. Tories lite. Diet austerity but strangely no shortage of money for ‘defence’. Screw the people, we are spending all the money on bombs.
If this is the alternative to the Conservatives, no wonder people are weeping.
