Barclays: perverting the course of financial affairs – cartoon (18)

Forgive me if this illustration is a little graphic but when pondering how best to capture the whole Barclays LIBOR manipulation scandal, the flagrant disregard shown by those responsible and, what should have been, the patent criminality of the deed, I felt the above cartoon wholly appropriate.

And sure we’re all adults here, so your captions are welcome!

I’m not sure the metaphor communicates quite the way you think it Brian… The depiction is pretty brutal… Not sure it’s matches “the story…”

    Knees up mother Brown.

I know what you mean Mick, was struggling to work how to paint the thousand words that I wanted to say, so just went loose with it and tried to portray how those individuals responsible, operating under Bob Diamond’s watch, acted so very inappropriately…

you want some more remorse and apology? take it.

So long, it’s been good to know you, biblically speaking. Performed by the Chief Effing Officer, a diamond in the rut; chorus by the Cheerman and bored off Directors.

The banks which were too big to fail are bigger than ever .The top ten US Banks own almost 80% of all banking assets in the USA . For the UK a similar percentage may be owned by the top 3 or 4 .

Alas Diamond’s fiasco has caused Mr Romney to unuse Mr Diamond as a fund raiser supremo for his presidential campaign . Mr Romney is dropping in on London to visit the land of his ancestors (Preston ) I believe on his way to Israel for a more important photo op with Prime Minister Netanyahoo of Israel .

The banksters have learned nothing these past several years and the ‘discovery’ of Diamond in the rough is just one more financial scandal to add to the ever growing plethora of corruption for which the City has always been a byword . The sewer is now open and whoever the new Bank of England Governor will be will have some suturing to do.

Meanwhile Madoff’s legacy lives on with brother Peter handing over 146 billion dollars in return for only 10 years in prison for abetting his brother world champion financial Ponzi scheme champ Bernie .

The cartoon is appropriate in its singularity but to paraphrase Joe Stalin about one death being tragic but 20 million deaths being a mere statistic -the lady being gone over above is just a symbol for the tens of millions of people across the world who have been defrauded , ripped off, etc etc by a generation of the most venal banksters in history aided and abetted in their looting by ‘our ‘ elected politicians of the right and left .

“I’m only hurting you because I love you (#SMACK#).

If I didn’t love you (#THWACK#) how could I hurt you so?

That you keep loving me (#CRACK#) only shows that you understand (#CRACK#) that you deserve this pain”

Will Britannia ever find the woman’s refuge? Don’t be silly. She clearly loves a good smack like some perversion of a Stepford wife.
