Off topic I know but I’m outside NI at the moment and would like to watch the NI election coverage on BBC1 NI.

Anyone know where I can get it online?

  • slug

The NI election will be fully covered as part of the UK election on BBC ONLINE. But you can’t get the NI opt-outs (which are only now and again anyway) online as far as I know.

    Mark,

excellent stuff but excuse my ignorance why would 2 boxes in the same place have such very different results.

  • Mark, The 5.00pm report posted by staff was wrong. It was not 169, it was 316.

  • Resubmitted Clandeboye PS for noon and 5pm with the electorate figures. Sorry I didn’t have them earlier – and sorry I’m away from Bangor now and won’t be getting the 9pm figures 🙂

Please note re Lagan Valley Dromore

Change – Box 75 827 possible votes not 881 as quoted earlier today.
Change – Box 77 847 possible votes not 947 as quoted earlier today.

Changes due to full number of names on voter list and those actually eligible at today’s date and my old eyes!

Slowish steady flow of voters in Dromore around 9pm

Not surprised at this – though the DUP were out in the streets close to Currie School urging voters to vote at about 830pm. First time we had them knocking doors.

  • Mark McGregor

Need more numbers but on current trend this is pulling our guesstimate back to low 60s

  • jtwo

BBC tweet said they’re liveblogging the NI results from 2155 so hopefully they will carry the NI TV as a livestream

  • slug

Its more likely to be socioeconomic .

  • slug

Again kinda low. What happened..did everyone just decide to go earlier this year ?

  • The Raven

Very much so. Also takes in the Pates Lane area. Remember that?

  • Mark McGregor

Thanks to everyone providing figures. While are analysis with them will have been weak this time (due to poor data from 2009) this should provide us with some great information to base future predictions etc on.

  • slug

Doubt if I have been to Pates Lane unless its in the main shopping district.

  • slug

Thanks to YOU mark mcgregor for this fantastic fun and all the time posting the results.

Wierd that turnout seemed high up to 9pm then didn’t after that.

  • Itwas SammyMcNally whatdoneit

Yes, well done, Mark excellent stuff.

  • Mark McGregor

    Averaging 54% at 9pm.

Slugger now has reduced projected turnout 61-64%

(unfortunately we have limited data from the key battleground constits hence the spread)

I’ll be calling this section a day at this stage. Thanks again for all your input, it will be very useful for future elections.

  • JR

Does anyone know when the first results can be expected?

  • WYSIWYG

Slug – off topic here but back to the 5pm thread, you correctly observed that Dunclug Primary (Ballymena North for anyone who might be interested) is a mixed and working class area. I am just curious how you think that might impact on voting turn out and voting pattern?

  • Great work Mark

  • slug

BBC predicting Tories short by 19.
But I am sceptical of this.

  • Greenflag

The last Westminster election in 2005 averaged a 61% turnout and in 2001 it averaged 59% . Expectations of Labour victories were held in both years . I don’t know what the NI turnout was in 2001 or 2005 but my gut instinct is that they would have been higher than the UK average?

What the implications could be for the result is as somebody said above my pay grade .

  • The exit poll

    Tories 307
    Labour 255
    Lib Dem 59

The Lib Dem vote seems very low

  • Mark

Agree – is there an NI exit poll?

  • slug

Assumes a uniforrm national swing though the swing in the marginals may be different

  • slug

    No

  • slug

Its on the internet – although the NI coverage seems the same as the UK coverage at the mo

  • Mr Crumlin

    whats happened BBC NI?

50% turnout in west tyrone? Ridiculously low!

  • Greenflag

    Well you would be 😉

  • slug

BBC NI is only doing periodic opt-outs from the national coveage. We used to take the London coverage but now we get a local service – periodic – through the night.

  • Greenflag

    Down 22% ?? Doesn’t look right .

  • Greenflag

About 11.00 p.m probably from the north east i.e Sunderland

  • Mr Crumlin

BBC wales and scotland both showing own programmes – think BBC NI having problems!

  • lamhdearg

dissidents not voting? in west tyrone.

If you are outside BBC territory try CSPAN.org in the USA, who are simulcasting the BBC national election show amd can be accessed globally.

  • dodrade

I was an observer at a polling station in West Tyrone and 50% seems right to me.

  • mutley

BBC reporting that parts of Newry and Armagh were at 50% also.
Will be interesting to see if its the Shinners or the stoops that stayed at home.
