“She can’t continue to bury her head in the sand..”

The new Chairman of the Assembly’s Education Committee, the DUP’s Mervyn Storey, was on StormontLive today dispelling any suggestion that, with Sammy Wilson ensconced as Environment Minister, there might be a change in DUP policy.. [Don’t mention young-Earth creationism.. – Ed]

Sorry for being a bit facetious but that’s another blasted “Mervyn” – when did all this “Mervyn” business start?

The more I see him the more impressive he seems.
A DUP leader of the future.
He has no political baggage to hold back his progress

I had him marked out to me as one to watch about five years ago by a senior member of the party. John Coulter also has had him down as critical to the future of the party. Certainly he’s not exactly typical of the talent that’s on the subs bench. But a capable replacement for Sammy Wilson.

“But a capable replacement for Sammy Wilson.”

    Perhaps.

But fatally flawed by his young-Earth creationism.

Sadly, Pete, I don’t think being a fully signed-up member of the nut committee in the God Squad stops anyone from progressing their political career.
