If you really are Charlie, pluck up the courage to publish the cartoons! Otherwise you are just a hypocrite.

  • Just a few quick points.
    I don’t do requests.
I don’t happen to agree with the barman’s ‘argument’, but I’d appreciate it if you kept your disagreement with it under his post.
    Mind-reading doesn’t work.
And, finally. This is my post. I chose to highlight the New Yorker cartoon. My choice. If you don’t like it, feel free to be offended.

The staff of Charlie Hebdo are dead largely because those who now claim to be like them were actually not when it really mattered. If more media outlets, blogs and satirical slots had had the courage to mock Muslims and Islam with the same enthusiasm that they did the adherents of the religion whose basic tenet is turning the other cheek, then Charlie Hebdo would not have become such an obvious target.

The well-meaning ‘I am Charlie’ outcry and steady flow of cartoons is understandable, but, in the end, is only empty rhetoric as long as mass media outlets remain petrified of Islam.

Although WaPo seems to be an exception.
