You can quote scripture til hell if it exists freezes over, but you won’t deflect any Christians from their beliefs. You are applying logic to faith and they do not mix.
Also it seems a little like showing off in the playground. Your argument about old testament law is itself older than Methuselah.
Youngpolitico seems sincere in his beliefs and actually sounds less preachy than yourself.

Harry excuse my poor bahasa it,s been a while i lived in NTT for 4 years in the 80,s

Mark, I’m not permanently in SE Asia as my business requires me to base myself in Australia but I certainly try to be there as much as possible.

Carl, I read somewhere that being fluent in Bahasa (Melayu or Indonesia) is the equivalent of having a key to an empty wardrobe as there is virtually nothing worth reading or listening to in the language. Probably due to the fact that it is a language of convenience to unite an archipelago of over 300 million people rather than a language of rich ethnic roots this might be a fair comment.

In truth my bahasa is sufficient to get me into a bar, order my drinks, chat to the bar staff and get me a taxi home again. Pretty much all an expat needs to be honest.

Carl Marks I presume all those commandments against bacon and shellfish only applied to jews and were not important after the new testament. The book of Romans condemned homosexuality so I imagine being christian and gay can’t work.

A lot of the verses the anti-gay protesters held up at pride were for repentance in general , why were they only showing them to gays do others not need to repent as well.

thanks for the reply, however as has been pointed out Jesus stated that the law had not changed one bit, so we are back to bacon and shellfish.
as regards to the old and new testament again Jesus said turn the other cheek and the old testament says a eye for a eye , however most fundie,s seem to go for the eye for a eye, back to pick and mix again.
on a unrelated point a spitfire has just flown over my house anybody else see it, wonderful machine

I think Jim Allister is just using the “offensive poster” as an excuse, most religious people view gays as deviants these zealots should at least be honest an admit that they don’t want gays in society full stop. Personally I think the individual with the poster is guilty of incitement. Gay adoption is a controversial subject, there is a very good Swedish film on the issue called “Patrick age 1.5” with English subtitles that explores the topic.

    I meant Patrik age 1.5.

have to agree with you on the Jim Allister bit, not to sure about the most religious people regard gays as deviants, most church or chapel attenders i know dont, the very noisy and very small group who describe themselves as saved do as does a small and noisy part of the catholic church but i doubt the majority does instead they take a live and let live approach

I found it amusing when Alex Kane refered to Titty von Tramp as an ageing drag act.
