POTD – Irony anyone?

Spotted off Ravenhill Ave on Millar Street. The road was also sprayed with a slightly different (and more direct) message replacing the beware with “will be shot”.
Oh and it was autographed RHD.

Should read ‘AnyoNe who jUmbLes uP cApital letteRs with lowEr casE will be spAnkED.’

  • Shameful you cant protect your own property isnt it “Irony”

    “Back to the East again”

  • joeCanuck

    belfastjj,
I would submit, respectfully, that you just don’t understand the meaning of irony.

  • Drumlins Rock

looks suspiciously similar to several of moochys previous offerings.

  • PFX

I’ve seen that hand before in Edinburgh.
    “KeEp brItan foR the BriTTish”.

Closely followed in neat lettering by “Learn to spell you stupid Nazi b*****d”.

  • Belfastjj……”Back to where I live”
Drummy …..your comment looks suspiciously like previous comments from you and an attempt at shooting the messenger whilst ignoring the message.

  • Mick Fealty

    Drumlin BelfastJJ:

Can we have little less of the flybys? If you have a point to make make it clearly enough so that: one, the rest of us can understand what you mean; and two it is sufficiently clear that this is not merely a campaign aimed at Moochin?

  • JR

Does the beware look like bewareigí to anyone else? Also whoever drew the penis on the door needs to see a doctor.

  • between the bridges

Irony anyone? Perhaps the irony is assuming that the irony was the act and not the intent or would that have been irony in itself?

  • Interesting it goes up shortly after the police have sent round leaflets warning us of break-ins in the area. Do you think the same people are involved?

  • Also, given the graffiti and litter around, it isn’t surprising that over 10% in the ballot box that included Miller Street voted Green in 2010.

  • sonofstrongbow

To suggest that this is irony is to apply bourgeois sensibilities to what is patently a dadaist happening. I applaud the artist’s challenging work that boldly confronts the meaning of property ownership in a proletarian-demeaning capitalist consumer society.

”Also whoever drew the penis on the door needs to see a doctor.”

An impressive eye for th subliminal. But how can you be sure it’s not a chicken drumstick?

  • Brian

“bUt DamaGing puBlic prOperty is okay”

  • MP, it’s a public information announcement from the people who would find a welcome amongst certain sections of the British and Irish political establishment. Apparently when we voted for the 1998 Agreement we were saying YES to this sort of thing. Some folks who live there have the wit not to say too much; folks who visit or decide to live there may have a certain desire to sample ‘real life’ in Belfast or, indeed, any other place where this sort of behaviour is rife/tolerated by the state.

  • Hi Mick i’ll spell it out loud and clear

1/ Can residents not protect their homes if the police cant ?

2/ I hope this isn’t back to the campagin of merely rounding down the people of East Belfast

  • ”Also whoever drew the penis on the door needs to see a doctor.”

As its patently a doorknob, a doctor isn’t the answer, I suggest the artist tries the DoorStore on Boucher Road.

The obvious riposte to the chicken drumstick involving KFC’s slogan is not suitable for family viewing.

  • Mac

“2/ I hope this isn’t back to the campagin of merely rounding down the people of East Belfast”

The odd ones do deserve it.
