Posters shots: Sinn Fein, Spin and Win…

front and back

One of the ironies of the elections and the posters that are put up is that sometimes irony is just round the corner. It’s hardly an open secret that Sinn Fein are very very good at dealing with the media and have been for quite some time. In conversations I have had with working class loyalists (ex paramilitaries) they all to a man agreed that Loyalism was behind in the media game (though they wouldn’t repeat that in front of their Brigadier, but that’s another story). So when I passed this earlier I had to come back to get a shot or two.

For the record and in fairness to Niall I have had dealings with him with regard to kids throwing stones and found him to be helpful, informative and prompt. So let us have your own poster shots through this election… You can host them on Flickr (and add them to the Northern Ireland group) and we’ll share the best of them here on Slugger…

In the Euro elections we had put up posters Nicholson posters and the next night the circus came along and put up their posters underneath with a big arrow pointing up at jim, had to adjust them slightly before a photographer took advantage!

On my way home I saw wee jeffrey has got his posters up first. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that this is the first time that wee jeffrey has been portrayed wearing glasses. Perhaps there has been a deterioration in his eyesight since his last poster shoot. I will leave others to conjecture and supply the photographic evidence.

    Too subtle, articles. lol

    Well aboard Mooch (bout time).

Mooch, hate to rain on your parade, but these types of “insights” say infinitely more about those seeing them than they do about…

Which brings me to a related point, obsession. Kudos to Squinter or whatever her or his name is for calling that one. The obsession says more about the obsessed than it ever could about Gerry.

By the way, if you are looking for spin and win, try the comments here on Slugger. The unity candidate isn’t sectarian and there was no need for violent response when all things civil rights was already solved, and that explains why the local parliament was dissolved by mom and dad. Spin and win…

Who can forget the story of the Tory candidate Terry Dick’s posters a few years ago? It may be apocryphal, but I am told that he ran with the national slogan.

Hence the poster reading: Dick – Don’t let Labour blow it.

Ive noticed two UUP posters for two different candidates on the same lampost, which is about 5 miles within the boundary of one of the constituencies.
I thought it might have been boundary change confusion (it isnt) or a simple error but I think its actually deliberate as its a very busy intersection and presumably voters from the “other” constituency pass it twice a day.

Actually it probably makes a lot of sense to have specific sites…airports….bus stations where different candidates are “hung”.
Problem with this is that politicians are very territorial and tend to think that voters would be confused.

One of our neighbours has been giving sanctuary to a flock of Conservative & Unionist trailers with billboards mounted on either side. Today the trailers are being released into the wild having been earmarked and postered. I have only seen one side of each of the trailer billboards from the road and so cannot confirm whether the other side carries the same or different or conflicting messages. But I can confirm that Sir Reg eMPey(in waiting) and Mike Nesbitt look well.

  • FitzjamesHorse

These billboards on trailers seem to have been held in captivity in the Linfield Industrial Estate near the bus/train station.
