Look to the skies!

Apparently there was a fireball in the sky over Ireland at approx 12.30am on Sunday. The BBC report notes – “The last time a meteorite was seen over Ireland was in 1999 over Carlow and there was a similar event over the skies of Northern Ireland 30 years earlier.” Although I remember witnessing one here in 1982.. ANYhoo.. Astronomy Ireland want footage, if possible, and eyewitness accounts to help in the hunt for any fragments that might have made it to ground level, so check any CCTV recordings you might have access to. And I see the Astronomy Ireland website clarifies the 1969 reference as a meteorite being found across Northern Ireland, i.e. on the ground. If you’re wondering what to look for here’s a reminder of a recent fireball over Canada.
