Live Blogging the Sinn Ard Fheis

Sinn Fein have a brand spanking news and very bloggy looking site for the Ard Fheis (nice work lads)… You can pick up the schedule here… I’ll be loading up the Cover it live software this evening to make sure it works properly this time. We’ll establish an open thread at the beginning of play tomorrow, and then live blogging Gerry Adams’ speech at about 5 (we’ll go live at 4.45)…

oh my! actually blogging gerry’s speech! how exciting, i can hardly wait!

  • fin

I wonder if GA has more than one speech prepared depending on how the day goes.

Just watched his interview on H&M;, very suprised the the usual dissenters here didn’t pickup on the fact that 3 times he used the term young when referring to activists and workers, possibly not the best idea considering the recent £15,000 paid out to a 50 year old who lost out to 2 ‘younger men’ for internal jobs

  • It was Sammy Mc Nally what done it

    Mick,

Did I miss it or did Slugger neglect the fact that the British government has time-tabled the legislation for Police and Justice – this being a crucial and effectively the (beginning of the )last stage in Peace Process if not the Political Process? This legislation as well as being vital is also likely to be highly controversial and probably make up a large chunk of the TUV election literature. Obvious one for Pete given his itnense interest in the topic?

p.s. There was something on Frank Miller’s piece in the Irish Times but did not mention a definite date.

  • Mick Fealty

You missed it? So did I! What’s the date then Sammy?

  • No mention of “Unionist Engagement” in that schedule. And I really thought Gerry cared.

    Gery`s speech will get a 10 min standing ovation….

the Leader himself will concentrate on 21st century republicanism, how SF are striving and ready for Government, how Stormont has worked only because of SF….

how the Leader has initiated a policy of change to rout the discontents, sorry rout those who don`t follow the party line, sorry modernise the party for the challenge ahead…

How SF is the greatest political party in existence, that Gerry is God….etc, etc, etc..

  • Mick Fealty

The date seems to be missing Sammy?

  • Comrade Stalin

    Go on Sammy, enlighten us.

  • It was Sammy Mc Nally what done it

    Mick,

the date for the legislation – which is what I referred to – is not missing.

  • Comrade Stalin

    Sammy,

    Fair enough.

Are you ready to put money on an actual deadline ?

  • Comrade Stalin

(for the actual devolution of the powers, I mean)

  • It was Sammy Mc Nally what done it

    CS,

You could have had a fortune if you hade taken me up on my various betting challenges on this whixh I made last September – you big girls pantyhose. But I will adopt a similar pantyhose-line for the moment.

  • the witches tit

it was sammy and so on and so on

come one, give us the date, my connection is too slow for all that following threads stuff but surely you can give us the exact date.
BTW, keep an eye on gerry’s beard, the longer it grows the closer we are to a united ireland, that’s a fact.

  • the future’s bright, the future’s orange

sammy sammy, get us a date, sammy sammy, give us a date…

You’ll be bankrupt after the rugger sam, so don;t be wasting any more of your british pounds old friend 🙂

  • slug

As sammy alludes, he put money on Christmas 2008.

  • Credit where due. Its a very good site but not as good as the Irish Labour party managed for their annual confernece.

  • It was Sammy Mc Nally what done it

    Orangey,

“sammy sammy, get us a date, sammy sammy, give us a date…”

and I thought you were a rugby fan – soccer/ladyball style chanting? – how very disappointing.

For further commnet on this subject see “which will be followed through when the parties agree a date” thread above where I have set Pete B off again.
