…and in other news

I was intially going to say that this was a good day for Gregory Campbell to ‘bury bad news’ about the Maze. But instead, it’s ended up as a congratulations to the BBC for reporting a story that was reported on December 10 last year. Not, however, as big a blooper as UTV Live, who yesterday led off with the news with the fantastic exclusive that Hugh Orde had got the job of Met chief. Except he hadn’t, as their website sheepishly stated this morning. We all make mistakes, but no correction on tonight’s TV bulletin. Ho hum.

To be fair everyone has known the DUP had no real intention on building a new stadium here. So the BBC could have chosen any random day over the last year and called it an exclusive and Gregory/Poots would have probably admitted it was a no-hoper.

The Terrorist shrine is still being built and the National Stadium idea is binned. Couldn’t the DUP just have told they weren’t able to deal with the issue 2 years ago instead of messing us all around.

Just think of all those people that have missed out on saying “look theres yawn bed that Bobby Sands fella lay in and didn’t do a big pile for couple months”. Great, I wonder if the shrine will appear on the discover NI postcards? Also what’s going to be built on the rest of the maze site now, medontfinks many businesses will want to build around that hell hole.

Wow another proud day for the NI administration.

No new welfare building projects, such as the Maze scam, should be undertaken in the six counties until the juristiction of the province is resolved.

A sports stadium when there are war walls studded throughout Belfast and other towns? Are they kidding?

Here’s a project. Bulldoze the statue of that monster which stands in front of Stormont. Better yet, bulldoze Stormont.

    …woah…I thought I was back in the 70s there for a moment….

Didn’t the beeb have the actual paper that Gregory intends presenting to the Exec – a paper which I assume didn’t exist on 10th Dec.

The story of the UTV ‘scoop’ is hilarious – Ken Reid had heard a few rumours that it was in the bag for Orde but (rightly) thought they weren’t solid enough to go with.

Ken toddles off home and than at six o’clock is surprised to see the son of Max Headroom and Julian Simmons, aka Mark Mallett deliver an exclusive report based on the dodgy rumours he had earlier dismissed. Trebles all round!

Ah na Kieran, that statue is of an auld Dub. An auld Dubliner in front of Stormont… Alive, alive O…
And consider the architectural merits of Stormont, ok it is a bit bombastic and it’s classical style is rather architecturally anachronistic for the time when you consider the more modernist and progressive architectural movements that were emerging on the European continent. To demolish it would be sheer vandalism.

Regarding stadia in Ireland (the island of), remember there is always Croke Park in Dublin and the new futuristic Lansdowne Road is due to be finished next year. Windsor Park will always be the compact and cosy venue for NI.

    Fermanagh Young Unionist,

I can tell that you are a very ‘Angry’ Fermanagh Young Unionist as well. I suppose you are thinking of all these ‘Papist’ types with rosary beads in hands visiting and venerating this ‘Shrine’ as they do with the likes of Lourdes, Fatima etc…Next thing, they’ll be looking for the beatification of Bobby Sands, cause all Romanists are like that aren’t they? Selling Bobby Sands poop as relics too…oh dear!
