“there’s a lot of technical issues..”

For most of the first part of his interview on last night’s Hearts and Minds UUP leader Reg Empey was firmly on the same page, in regard to the future for Northern Ireland politics, as Conservative Party spokesman, Owen Paterson – as noted in the Irish Times today. He was slightly less sure-footed in the second half, see below the fold, on the question of “how you maximise the unionist vote..”

  • It was Sammy Mc Nally what done it

Posh Boy Dave Cameron(PBDC) clearly has no idea of how deep seated secarianism is the driver for much of Unionist politics. The serene-double-barrelled-surname-world he and his advisers inhabit will be regualrly disturbed by the unpleasant drum banging that goes with the tribal politics of Norn Iron.

But lets be honest this is a pact/alliance that all Nationalists will genuinely welcome. Not just because it has real potential to split the Unionist vote and not just for the fun that will result from the Tories having to justify their new party members very intolerant utternances on all manner of subjects but because it will also drive a wedge between the largest Unionist party the DUP and the party likely to make up the next government.

With TUV Jimbo flexing his muscles, Robbo and Marty like 2 old pals and Deputy Dodsy having his lost his bite the run up to the Euro-Elections may even out do the other great Euro event – the Eurovision Song Contest (which is probably being held around the same time ) for entertainment value. Crakcing stuff.

Gosh, imagine…someone actually hoping for change. What a fool to hold such hopes.
