Good news from the other island

Hope is alive for Turgon’s wee friends ( the nut gatherers not the nutters).

There seems to be a border for squirrels who seem according to this to be unionists, although nice liberal ones, with a good neighbour policy and even an all-island plan.

Just for info purposes, (and I’m the saddo waiting to see the outcomes from it), you can find more out about the state of Tufty in NI here.

Ah so the omens are true then, the native squirrels shall be reclaim their territories!

I guess the planters prayers are falling on deaf ears.

    God I hate fucking squirrels.
Gas the little grey bastards I say. yes that’s a policy U turn on my part. Hey when you are wrong, you are wrong.

The NISF is now in discussion on the next phase of this and are hoping to work alongside the Republic of Ireland to create an All Ireland Red Squirrel Action Plan“. (my emphasis)

Are we sure that this is not some nutty left-wing Fenian front organisation?

Nature is not cruel .Nature just is . Goodbye Red Squirrel. Smaller then the grey and niche adapted only to a coniferous environment whereas the grey competitor can exploit both coniferous and broad leaf environments this ‘competition’ will have only one end .

I was going to suggest a squirrel ‘repartition ‘ until I saw the distribution map ;)( joke ) . The greys must have acquired immunity to the ‘squirrel pox virus’ much earlier . Perhaps the ‘reds’ are just now acquiring a ‘defence ‘ but too late to do anything other than confirm their marginalisation and eventual going under to the bigger and more adaptive greys .

Eerily reminiscent of the experience of that much larger rodent – Homo sapiens known for his vain attempts to squirrel away his largesse if not his nuts in the bowels of Wall St and the City of London . The European variety of the species became immunised against many diseases via the domestication of animals whereas Native Americans having no domesticable animals in their environment did not develop immunity and succumbed to the white man’s diseases.

Wonder how the surviving Native Americans are coping with the Wall St pox virus which is now rampaging through the world of the largest ‘rodents ‘ 😉

Nature ye can’t beat it eh . And thus my money is on the grey in the long distance Squirrel Handicap Steeplechase 😉

The Isle of Wight is apparently one of the last strongholds of the reds in England.

Not such strong swimmers then these Americans? and the ferry is extortionately expensive!

    “Goodbye Red Squirrel.”

I’ll be taking bets on that.
