A change is gonna come. Well, maybe. The Department for Social Development wants to hear your thoughts on plans to renew Belfast City Centre. Worryingly, the Press Association focuses on how the city could “double its available shopping space in 15 years”, but there’s more to the consultation document (pdf) than that..
Amongst other things, they’re talking about taking the buses out of the city centre, and starting work on a “rapid transport network” which would seem like an environmental plus. The document is a bit corporate, and not a thrilling read, but Belfast, as a public space, does need some work and lots of independent thinking to catch up with similar British cities, and as such, I think submitting a comment would be a very worthwhile way to spend five minutes.
