Examiner 230115

This is a bit of an experiment to see what you think of this round up of front pages. Let us know whether you think we should do this on a daily basis below, or indeed if you have a regional paper you would like us to include.

  • Pointless.

  • BetsyGray

Great idea….!…I might go out and buy a paper now… if the headline tickles my fancy.

  • NMS

I think it is a great idea. Certainly you get to see what the papers’ editors perceive their readers think are the issues. Belfast papers all look very regional, I think the Cork/Irish Examiner looks the most interesting this morning.

Put up as many as you can, I am sure they can all do with some publicity.

  • mickfealty

Question for me is does it add sufficient value to justify the time pulling it all together? Broadsheet does it for the southern and cross channel papers, but not the northern ones.

  • Korhomme

I like the idea; whether it’s worth doing daily is another matter.

If this is continued, could the urls of the papers be added; I usually read on-line rather than buying the ‘dead-tree’ version.

  • Zeno

I like it, and it’s encouraging that 70% of the general public are not complete dimwits.

  • Practically_Family

My initial reaction was “what use would it be?”

But I must admit that the fact that the only two papers which might be considered Unionist lead on the Asher’s story is interesting & something I wouldn’t have copped on to without this post.

  • New Yorker

As someone who views from the US, I like the idea because hardcopy front pages convey more than lines on a screen and I am not walking past a newspaper shop to see the front pages displayed. I don’t know how much effort is required to do this so will not comment on the frequency. It would be interesting to see a variety of regional papers rotated so that there are two or three every time you put up this feature. When I’m in Ireland I usually pick up a regional when I visit a different area to get the ‘feel’ of the area and some of them can be a fairly good read with some interesting articles about the history and places in their area as well as the local concerns and issues.

If Slugger does this and gets known for it, other sites might link and recommend a site visit.
