As everyone knows, Thursday night is politics night. But instead of sitting in for a marathon session of The View, The Issue and Question Time, why not test your political knowledge by getting down to The Black Box tonight for the Great Big Politics Pub Quiz?

Sure, you’re probably on strike tomorrow anyway… Or else you’ll have to stay at home because there’s no public transport for you. Or buses or teachers for your kids’ school. Even if you’re at work tomorrow, we guarantee a great night’s fun as part of the Imagine! Belfast Festival of ideas and politics to get you in the mood for Friday.

Among our quizmasters you may find the MP for Belfast East, Naomi Long; the leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, Mike Nesbitt MLA; and south Belfast MLA, Fearghal McKinney. Who knows – there may be others (we have asked!).

Some of the fine bloggers (past and present) who frequent this virtual space will be around to help out and to see if their contributed questions made the final cut.  Some of the questions are just mean… while even I can answer others.

Brian John Spencer will be in residence to do a prize portrait for the winner of our raffle and will be available for commissioned live drawing during the evening.

We’ll be asking people to take action for imprisoned Saudi Arabian blogger, Raif Badawi, who is facing ten years in jail and another 950 lashes (and potentially the death penalty) for his activity on a website not unlike Slugger.

Hope you can make it. We’ve already had a very healthy level of advance booking of tickets, but you can still get them online and there will also be tickets available at the door. Event starts at 7:45pm.
