Lions…..Lucky

Crikey that Israel bloke on the wing looks tasty…..how we won that I really don’t know…..

Would have been criminal for the Lions to have lost that one. Nicely on top for the 1st 60 but the scrum disintegrated with 20 to go. Some terrific performances I thought with the Irish contingent doing really well. Yes, Aussie should have snatched it at the end but the best team on the day won. If Roberts returns to the side, I could see a 3-0 whitewash.

  • Dewi

No – Australia were the better team. Travesty to be honest. Mind you George North looks up for it….

  • Newman

Impressive how the replacement of Jones and Corbesier caused such problems for Lions scrum. The Aussies play right to the end, so having won so many games in the last kick of the match this was not an unfair outcome.Irish boys especially Sexton and Heaslip were right to the fore…stil think 2:1. Bowe may struggle now to get back in.

  • Mark

Heaslip was outstanding as was North . If Roberts does come back , who does he replace ? As much as a fan as I am of BOD , he gave away two penalties which granted was as much the ref’s interpretation of the rules as his errors , but next week is backs to the walls stuff and I’m sure the Aussies will practice their place kicking this week .

Philips while up against the best scrum half in the world , didn’t play well but the plus is that he should be highly motivated next week .Sexton was Sexton and his game can only improve now he has’nt the pressure of place kicking to contend with . Can the Aussies get their players fit in time for next week ? Will they take away kicking duties from O Connor after a disastrous displace today and can our scrum hold out for the eighty minutes next week ?

Best chance to win a series in a long time …..

Can’t see Aussie playing much better than today but the Lions have plenty left. Can only get better.

    Famous last words FBFO…..

The pressure will really be on the Aussies . With the cricket team going into the upcoming Ashes series as underdogs , the rugby boys were not suppose to lose this .

Over complacency is the Lions biggest danger followed closely behind by bad luck ( which the Aussies got their quota for the series today ) . Great week of drama ahead !

“The Aussies play right to the end, so having won so many games in the last kick of the match this was not an unfair outcome”

So true – .Campesi the *&*^%#@ The memory of that last minute snatch still lingers ..

“The Aussies play right to the end, so having won so many games in the last kick of the match this was not an unfair outcome”

…..You ought to try being Welsh…

  • ‘No – Australia were the better team’ You’re kidding, right? Not according to everyone down here in Brisvegas.

We also commented on the fact that Aussies don’t appear to drink much milk with the brittle bones they appear to have, but that aside the Wallabies will not be recalling Quade Cooper, 5 backs are out and is there one more out and being hunted by the fuzz in VIC? The Wallabies are a shambles and yes, they stuck it to the Lions in game 1 but I don’t think they will be as good in game 2 and the feeling here is that game 1 was the one they needed to win to stand a chance.

Also, Israel will be a marked man, like he was for much of the 2nd half in the 1st Test.

Agree with football cliches the Lions looked good for a series win even a whitewash before the tour, each of the individual home nations have beaten Austarlia recently with the exception of Wales who have lost by only a whisker in their last few games. Fair play to Australia for giving it a go but the Lions should be winning so a bit of a wake up call as they ended up being very lucky. With all Australias iinjuries and off field problems it should be 2 comfortable victories.

With a fit Genia Australia always have a chance….

  • ‘With a fit Genia Australia always have a chance….’

It’s a team sport Dewi & they’ve been scraping the barrel for awhile now. Tbh, having recently come on down here I’m amazed at how low down the pecking order Union is, football/soccer has bigger traction and interest than Union. No, if you want to know what the biggest rugby game here this week will not be in Melbourne this Saturday but Brisbane tomorrow night with the State of Origin game. It’s a big, BIG buildup in the 3 main terrestrial channels while the Lions tour is a bit story now.

O Driscoll to captain lions in all important test decider oh wait read again O’Driscoll dropped!!!! Will Gatland live to regret that. Lets not forget Scotalnd twice, England and Ireland led by king of the muppets Declan Kidney have all beaten Australia recently so Gatland having the cream of the isles to select from should have no trouble beating a woeful Australia and yet they have struggled in both tests so far and in the decider he has gone for a mainly Welsh team to play bish bosh bash rugby that has failed the Welsh 8 times in a row against the Aussies – cretin!

  • Dewi

“bish bosh bash rugby that has failed the Welsh 8 times in a row against the Aussies”……just had some bad luck boondock….

Seriously – brave selections in the centre and back row. O’Driscoll hads not been brilliant – we’ve made few line breaks in the centre. Roberts and Davies could work. Biggest thing is Phillips back – something could not have been right last week.
