RWC: Semi Final Day…Make History Wales…please!!

2 Fairly big games this weekend in Auckland. On Sunday New Zealand face Australia. Is McCaw fit? Will the all Blacks risk Cruden or play Weepu first five eighth? (Where on earth does “first five eighth” come from?)
Here’s the NZ Herald – Graham Henry will be trying to stay awake…it’s a 9pm start in New Zealand – which is a bit different for the players.

In Australia they are working on those Sonny Bill Williams voodoo dolls…might be working – he’s on the bench.

McCaw is in the team – from the BBC…as is Cruden starting.

Oh and tomorrow morning there’s another game on…..Uncle Sam (Warburton) needs you – get behind Welsh Heroes – from Wales Online.. (sometimes I think we go over the top a bit):

On the pitch our young, unassuming, but highly-drilled, collection of players have become the darlings of sporting commentators the world over.
Our brand of dramatic, exuberant, but brilliantly organised rugby, has bordered at times on perfection.
Witness the heroic defensive effort against Ireland; the scintillating attacking blitz against Fiji; the blood and thunder physicality exhibited against the Springboks and Samoa.
Look at our players – led by the incomparable Sam Warburton, they are youthful, driven and humble, but with talent and passion in spades.
Off the pitch, the ambassadorial role they have played for Wales has been exemplary. They have charmed New Zealand with their singing, their enthusiasm, and their professionalism – and a code of behaviour that has contrasted so favourably with some of their northern hemisphere contemporaries.

I, and 59,999 others will be in the Millenium Stadium tomorrow morning….Enjoy.

Go Wales! They can do it; this is not a great French side. If they play like they did against RSA and Ireland they’ll do it.

Wales really could do this and indeed go on for the big prize. Their standard of rugby isn’t the big issue, they’re still making plenty of mistakes and handling errors and are certainly not back to the level they were at a few years ago.

But, the intensity they play at and seem physically able to maintain for a full 80mins is incredible and I think will ultimately break France tomorrow.

The other half of the draw is impossible to call, the All Blacks still look ominous yet South Africa played fantastically last weekend and Australia somehow still managed to win the game. I suspect they plan a repeat tomorrow and if they succeed who’d want to predict the outcome of a Wales/Australia final?

Oh, and on a slightly different note and speaking as an unashamed “auld lad” when it comes to sporting ethics and how you expect “sportsmen” to behave.

Firstly, nice to see a coaching team prepared to lay down some discipline and encourage true “professional” behaviour off the field.

Secondly, nice to see the players adopting the policy so readily and sticking to it.

Thirdly (and the best bit!), nice to see it paying off, and deservedly so.

A very, very, good time to be a Welsh rugby fan i’d imagine!

    c’mon wales!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

unfortunately I fear the worst… The frenchies are used to winning and I’ve a feeling they’ll be a little too powerful. That said, the whole of NZ will be behind their sheep-friendly cousins. Should be a cracking game. Is there really going to be 60k in the millenium? WOW.

Predicting NZ V France, hoping NZ V Wales

I hope the Welsh dragon is breathing fire tomorrow! Come on Wales!

France haven’t lost a WC semi final to the Welsh since 1995.
