The BBC reports on Plaid leader Ieuan Wyn Jones’ decision to quit as leader (for the second time) sometime in the next two and a half years. From Ieuan:
“I have also witnessed many historic and momentous events during that period, not least leading the party into government for the first time in its 86-year history and the referendum on law-making powers,”
“The party obviously needs time to reflect on the results, look long and hard at our message, our party structures and campaigning abilities”
Betsan reports here.
“It is absolutely no secret that Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas (strangely topical on Slugger – Dewi) is one Plaid member who wants to see the party conduct a short, sharp review, elect a new leader and stike a deal that lets Plaid march back into government with Labour, all as soon as possible. Simon Thomas, brand new AM but old Plaid hand, is the leader of choice, or so it’s whispered in Cardiff Bay.”
Personally I think that holding and winning the referendum was Ieuan’s achievment more any other individual.
Pob lwc i ti yn y dyfodol Ieuan.
