Voters more concerned about straight answers than crooked expenses…

Here’s one I missed from last week… Research from Royal Holloway College, University of London have discovered that the public in Britain at least are more concerned with politicians giving them a straight answer than the expenses row… Lots of good stuff to chew over… But these stats seem to me to be worth noting:

Table 2: Perceptions of the honesty and trustworthiness of different elite groups

Category Mean score (on a scale of 0–10)

* Government ministers 3.1
* Journalists 3.1
* MPs in general 3.3
* Local councillors 3.8
* Your local MP 4.4
* Judges 5.9

The closer a politician is to you personally the more you trust him/her. Even if you distrust politicians in generality. More good stuff here.
