On Slugger, politics online and the Slugger Awards…

I called into NVTV last Tuesday, just after the launch of their new Blogtalk TV show, and recorded an interview with Carl Boyle… on Slugger, it’s politics and why we decided to run the Slugger Awards… This is the preview… If you’re a blogger and you want to join Carl and the team on the next show, drop him a line… carl@northernvisions.org We launch a new category on Monday morning, but don’t forget to give us your nomination for the best Up and coming politician

  • Mick, public servants play a key role in the political process. Our Permanent Secretaries are largely unknown quantities as are our Council CEOs. Have you considered including them in Slugger Awards?

Just scrolled down a bit too quickly and initially thought Mick was Sammy Wilson for a sec!!!

  • Mick Fealty

It seems I need another holiday already, shorty…

  • Only Asking

Mick, you say you have no politics? C’mon you must have politics and they must influence you someway.

  • Dewi

    Really good Mick.

  • Rory Carr

What’s all this about using “1 weird old tip” to “cut down 3lbs of your belly every week”?

I wouldn’t go encouraging users to acquire “six-packs” while using this site, there’s far too many who seem to have downed at least one six-pack too many before they’ve come on.

As to Only Asking’s question, it is true that encouraging open political debate is a political act in itself as is any attempt to stifle it. It is all a question of which is preferable.

  • Mick Fealty

‘Only Asking’, did you listen right up to the end?

  • Mick Fealty

Erm, deliberate mistake… the Internet was invented in the early, not the late nineties… when the peace process did begin…

  • Mack

Mick – Your thinking of the World Wide Web (invented by Tim Berners-Lee in Cern around that time). The Internet started life as ARPANet and has been around since the late 1960s.
