Chances not taken as Irish lose again

A much improved performance from the Irish cricket team but the same end result against Leicestershire. After losing the toss and being asked to bat at a rain affected Grace Road, Ireland struggled early on and were reduced to 44-3 before a partnership of 110 between teenager Paul Stirling and Keith Kevin O’Brien lifted the total to a competitive 197 off their 31 overs. Leics managed to keep up with the rate fairly comfortably until the spin of Kyle McCallen and Regan West put the brakes on and after McCallen nipped out Taylor and Dippenaar, the Irish were in with a shout. Leics still had their batting powerplay to use though and this decided things with HD Ackerman (118* off 87) and Paul Nixon pummeling 34 off the 3 overs to see the pros home. Up to Eglinton on Sunday where Ireland’s next game is against Hampshire.

    Keith O’Brien = Kevin O’Brien.

Ireland do not have the strength in depth to cope with irish players playing for other counties. Fact.

Good to see my club mate Paul Stirling hitting another half century though.

    Whoops! Sorry Kevin!

are Irish Rugby fans West Welsh?

Thought Ireland might pull it out of the bag, but heyho.

How long before Boyd Rankin comes to Englands attention or Joyce redux he had another good day at the wicket.

Does anyone know why there never seems to be commentary available when Ireland play in the FP Cup, the BBC non’t seem to be covering it. Is it copyright?
