More Kristallnacht than Karl Marx

Johnny Guitar has some choice words for éirígí over their anti Israel activities.

• Mark McGregor

One problem with JG’s blog post – not a single one of the flag burners had anything to do with éirígí. I’m sure he’ll add the corrective.

• Dave

Just as surely as éirígí will issue a condemnation of the flag-burning or of the bullying by its thuggish members of young workers at a small stall selling spa products in a shopping centre (no doubt a massive ‘economic boycott’ that will cripple Israel in the minds of the éirígí muppets) which reduced those young workers to tears.

éirígí, in unleashing their sectarian hate of young Jewish people at Castlecourt showed what happens when muppets cross a line between anti-Zionist or anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic behaviour. Those workers were harassed because they were Jewish, and not because said mindless muppets believed that their stated pretext for their anti-Semitic behaviour would in any way assist the Palestinians in Gaza.

• runciter

sectarian hate of young Jewish people… anti-Semitic behaviour… harassed because they were Jewish

Do you have any evidence for these claims?

• autocue

Encouraging a boycott of Israeli products is one thing. Encouraging a boycott of Estee Lauder is another. Why boycott this company? Is it because the founder happened to be Jewish?

• cynic

This demonstrates what a strong force eigri can be in Irish politics. The Shinners would have had 6 minders to make sure the footage never aired!

• J O’Donovan

Well done Eirigi. reminds me of the Dunne’s Stores protests over South African goods. Apartheid South Africa was a major Israeli ally; they developed the bomb together. Beats me why it is ok to be against apartheid but not ok to oppose the Nazi state of Israel.
The skin care Israelis most likely served in the Israei armed forces and, as such, should not be welcomed into Ireland.

• RG Cuan

All of those young workers at the above-mentioned stall in Castlecourt are ex-members of the Israeli Defence Forces.

Maybe that’s why Éirígí focused on them?

• Suilven

I don’t know if that’s true, RGC, nor indeed how you would know, but if so, they are likely ex-conscripts. Now, got any other obfuscatory tactics for us?

• Rory Carr

The symbolism of the defiant refusal of the Israeli flag to burn despite the best attempts of these clowns amounted to an Israeli propaganda coup that Saatchi and Saatchi would have given their eye teeth to come up with.

So it will remain when and wherever left infantilism plies its merry trade in hollow mockery of Marxist good sense and discipline.

• Glencoppagagh

Any Israeli over 18 and in good health will have served in the IDF. The significant exceptions are the ultra-orthodox who claim exemption on grounds of religious study.

• GGN
• Dave

Runciter, you can act as an apologist for sectarianism as you wish (and, if you are a Shinner, as is your duty). The reaction of the young workers who were harrassed by the sectarian scum shows that they were the target and not a non-personal Israel. If other evidence was needed, said scum hurling racial abuse at them might give the appropriate clue:

A police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating a racially motivated incident at an Israeli beauty products stall in the Castle Court shopping complex on Saturday, January 10, prior to a protest against Israeli action in Gaza in Belfast city centre. No one was injured but racist comments were made and leaflets thrown at stallholders.”

• Harry Flashman

I already mentioned that if a group of louts barged into a Chinese restaurant and started bawling at the waitresses and throwing menus at them in protest at Chinese government policy or surrounded an inoffensive group of Pakistanis and howled at them, waved Union Jacks and demanded a boycott of all things Pakistani then not only would they be roundly condemned but many would be facing criminal prosecution.

Believe it or not harmless Jews going about their lawful business are entitled to the same protection from such fascism.

• runciter

If other evidence was needed, said scum hurling racial abuse at them might give the appropriate clue:

I see that the police are claiming racist comments were made, but I don’t see any evidence to support their claims.

Perhaps they will be evidence offered if this goes to court.

• picador

Any Israeli over 18 and in good health will have served in the IDF. The significant exceptions are the ultra-orthodox who claim exemption on grounds of religious study.

Apart from those who went abroad to avoid it.

The number of ‘Hitler should have finished the job’ type comments I have heard in the last week has truly shocked me.

• Democratic

The assertation that the attempted intimidation of the young stall workers (who include females in their number)is ok because they may have completed involuntary national service in their homeland is a disgrace bringing back to memory the days when the Provos considered certain milk men and window cleaners to be legitimate targets – no doubt the same mouth-pieces here held such views……lowlifes!
PS – Did Pope Benedict not do national service with the Hitler youth – perhaps Erigi and their cheerleaders next target will be the Vatican….

• Garibaldy

Harry,

I don’t think those are exact analogies, unless they were selling goods from China and Pakistan. That said, I don’t think this sort of protest does anyone any favours. It looks like intimidation of the workers. As for the point about membership of the Israeli army, I don’t think being a former member of a conscript army means that you should be taken as representative of the whole state and its policy. Any more than we take individual Americans to be responsible for Bush.

• Rory Carr

“The number of ‘Hitler should have finished the job’ type comments I have heard in the last week has truly shocked me.” – Picador

You really must stop mixing in such circles, Picador.

• Mark McGregor

I’m not interested in getting drawn into the debate but as some are speculating on the reasons for éirígí targeting Sea Spa in particular I’ll pass on what I was told and what was on the leaflets.

They said the products rely on minerals extracted from the Dead Sea, that this is Occupied Territory, Palestinian land that Palestinians are barred from, that companies profiting from these products are profiting from crime. In addition as the business is based on products sourced from the Occupied Territories they are supporting a boycott as part of the broader call, endorsed by Trade Unions including others, to boycott all Israeli products in protest at Israeli actions in Gaza.

Make of that what you will.

I didn’t hear anyone claiming the protest was due to people being former IDF.

Additionally, as one of the few people there not part of the protest, a target of the protest or trying to prevent it – I didn’t hear any racist language. Closest was a security guard telling someone to ‘take that shite up the Falls’

• Earnan

Erigi needs to find something better to do

Oh wait, they can’t

• J O’Donovan

Gotta go easy on the racist comments about these professional embezzlers. Fancy if we were living in the 1930s and made comments against the Huns, history’s best analogy to the Israeli savages. I am sure plenty of South African supremacists were offended when their sins were highlighted. Suace for the white goose should be ok for the Israeil gander too.

• Babykins

Given violent Irish Republicanism’s past flirtation with fascism, fighting for Franco during the Spanish Civil War and supporting the Nazis before and during WW2, it is little wonder that they now fall comfortably into the anti-Israeli camp.

As to the erigi spokesman’s justification of the attack on young people in Castlecourt on this thread, complete bollocks.

• Greenflag

mark mcgregor ,

‘Make of that what you will.’

A load of oul bollocks . Eirigi are off their head . If they want to protest against Israeli actions in Gaza fine -go find an Israeli embassy . Protesting at a few Belfast Jews purveying Dead Sea salts as cure alls is a load of cobblers. The stuff probably comes from China anyway .

• Rory Carr

Indeed, Greenflag. Already well advanced in besmirching the name of socialism or of socialist unity in the minds of the public, this desperate group of dilettantes are now set upon a course of dirtying the idea of unity for humanitarian ends and driving the public further away from raising their voices against Israeli policies in Palestine for fear of being associated with such nasty little plonkers.

They do a great disservice to the cause and the people that they insist, out of their neo-trotskite “socialist purity”, they alone truly serve. With “friends” like this the poor people of Hamas……

• sean

I cannot get my head around attention and sympathy given to this completely minor event by the local media . Its just goes to prove the controol and influence the Zionist have over the media , when such a event can get as much coverage and air time as those protesting about the Zionist Genocide of the people of Palestine. There been bigger kerfuffles in a kindergarten. One Israeli intervied about the non event said they were simply only selling and promoting a product and were not involved in politics. He call the burning and suffocating to death men women and children by his fellow countrymen politics!. If there was a ounce of decency in anyone of those Israelis they would have stayed at home on the day of the protest or joined in and called for a end to the Genocide. I wonder if any of the rejuvenating miracle creams they were promoting , could restore the burned and destroyed faces of the young babies ,we see daily with their skins peeling of after a precision strike by a so called smart bomb. The Zionist have lived of the back of the holocaust for to long, and it is now beginning to show. Millions of people around the world who once would broker very little criticism of Zionist Atrocities and Ethic cleansing of the Palestine people are now beginning to see the real monster the state of Israel is.

• Patti

The Jews “control” the media? Is that part of a World Jewry Conspiracy?

That your own idea sean or did you pick it up someplace?

• RG Cuan

It is true SUILVEN, as Glencoppagagh said any Israeli over 18 would have served in the Defence Forces and i know the folk in Belfast did as i had a 30 min conversation with one of the girls just before Christmas!

• At least they’re not burning people, unlike Israel.

• Mark McGregor

Just so people know, Sea Spa were approached at a local level and national level with a request to hear how their staff were affected by the protest – we do balance round these parts. They declined or ignored.

• NP

“Eirigi” I always assumed they were a MI5 front for use as black propaganda & to stir up trouble to justify repression. In the same mould as “Class War”, in the UK, was used in the 80s & early 90s for similar ends.

• sean

Patti– Do you honestly expect anyone to beleive, that you are unaware of the Zionist controol of most of the major western media houses. It mot a conspiracy , it a fact. The days of using smear tactics to silence those who point out facts of pro Israeli Zionist controll and influence in the Western media , and their ritual slaughter and Genocide of the Palestinians, is but surley comeing to a close.

• Driftwood

Is David Icke a member of eirigi? If not, he should be. Leader in fact.

• Pancho’s Horse

Don’t forget, all you pro-Zionist apologists, that these are the terrorists that murdered all our brave young squaddies in the King David hotel etc. Now they are using white phosphorous bombs on babies.

• sean

np — I would be inclined to agree with you that the whole childish flare up, had the look of being staged managed.

• Rory Carr

“It is true SUILVEN, as Glencoppagagh said any Israeli over 18 would have served in the Defence Forces…”

Except, R G Cuan, that it is not true of those most determined religious zealots, largely from New York and Russia, who, while being most vocal in urging strikes against Palestinians while they actively steal their land, themselves refuse to join or be conscripted into the Israeli Defence Forces on religious grounds which, I am sure, makes perfect sense to them but which I, and many Jewish citizens of Israel find quite astounding.

I suppose it is akin to the Don King philosophy on boxing – you gets the profits without taking the punches!.

• NP

Rory, comes as no suprise, generally in any war, those who are staying at home are the war’s biggest supporters.

• NCM

I’m 110% against anti-Semitism, but throwing leaflets and waving flags with the goal of discouraging the purchase of goods from Israel to protest Gaza isn’t Krystalnacht. I mean, get real.

God, I wish we had done the same here in 2003 for French products. I mean, just on general principle.

• darth rumsfeld

“It is true SUILVEN, as Glencoppagagh said any Israeli over 18 would have served in the Defence Forces”

ah, so someone who was once in the army but isn’t now is a.. “legitimate target”. Well we’ve certainly never heard that one before

“Sea Spa were approached at a local level and national level with a request to hear how their staff were affected by the protest – we do balance round these parts. They declined or ignored.”
Who exactly is “we?” And what right have “we” to ring up companies asking for this sirt of information?
-“Oh hello, I’m just ringing from Spart House on behalf of ogra..er..eirig..er.. Concerned Concerned Citizens Against Mud. Do you mind telling me, were any of your employees intimidated by us? Is there any time it would be more convenient for us to intimidate you?”

• RG Cuan

DARTH

And where did I ever say Sea Spa workers were “legitimate targets”? (your words, not mine).

I simply noted that they are ex-members of the IDF, and the girls are quite good at washing/rubbing your hands if you ever fancy giving it a go!
