Bertie’s band of buddies coming apart at the seams…?

Aha, it looks like Bertie’s Band of Buddies in the Dail is cracking up under the strain of a tough budget… World By Storm was on the ball earlier than most. He points out that this could mean that Sinn Fein’s year long wandering in the Dail wilderness without speaking rights, if they can cut a deal with estranged Fianna Fail TD Joe Behan and Tony Gregory. It was a coalition tied with bits of loose string from the Ahern political household. Not for nothing is the Taoiseach commonly referred toBIFFO. He’d need to hope that the rest of Bertie’s wee package doesn’t come undone. Otherwise the political game south of the border could become very competitive indeed!

either my dyslexia kicking the shit out of me, there is some idiosincracy of the way the Irish use english or this post doesn’t really say anything?

Anyone with any wit realised that one bad election result didn’t mean the end of Sinn Féin in the south. Since the disastrous general election they’ve chalked up their first senator and played a leading role in the successful No to the Lisbon Treaty campaign. They will do well in the local elections because people are angry and will more readily vote for protest parties in a low-stakes election. The same may well be true of the Euros. But as for an alliance with Tony Gregory? I can’t see it. And Joe Behan will return to Fianna Fáil sooner or later. They always do.

    So what’s missing?

Has ended? Is coming to an end? Might be coming to an end? Kind of might be coming to an end?

sorry guys. My fault. Hurtling through posts at a rate of knots this morning… I meant to explicitly refer to the lack of speaking rights, which you’d only understand if you’d gone through to the much more cogent post of Mr WBS in the first link.

I will fix it directly after my cheese on toast…

The Taoiseach is referred to as a Biffo because of where he’s from. They’re all Biffos, even the nice Grannies who’ve just lost their medical card. They seem to take a sort of Niggaz With Attitude/Queer Nation pride in it.

BUFFO is another name bandied about for the Taoiseach.

    The U standing for ugly!
