Threat to non police officer

The BBC are reporting that a woman has had to leave her home in Londonderry due to threats from dissident republicans who thought (wrongly) that she was in the police. I well remember throughout the troubles most people who were in the police or other security forces had complex stories for what they did for a living usually centring around the civil service. I had always hoped that sooner or later people would be able to say that they were in the police the same way as others would say they worked for the Ulster Bank or the NHS. Clearly that is unlikely to be any time soon.

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.
