Ireland [just] win over Netherlands

The Ireland cricket team were back at Stormont today, at the Civil Service Club ground, in their first match in a Quadrangular Series which also involves the West Indies and Scotland. They were playing the fourth team involved though and, despite a less than imposing batting performance, the bowling produced enough final overs jitters to secure a one run win over the Netherlands side. Ireland’s first one-day-international win since the World Cup.. and the first for new coach Phil Simmons. The West indies are unlikely to be so generous. The players, though, refused media interviews afterwards.. only to be promised, the World Cup cheques “are in the post.” Full match scorecard here
