Higgins crunched out of the Dail…

Joe Higgins arguably brightened up many an otherwise dull Dail session is, according to Simon, political toast… So far as the Dail is concerned at least… A fact already (if ungrammatically) acknowledged on Wikipedia

I’ve fixed the wiki grammar, Mick.

He’s finished runner up with Fine Gael taking his seat. While not agreeing with many of his policies its a sad loss and he deserves kudos for his work on highlighting discrimination against immigrants.

  • Garibaldy

I agree he did good work on immigrants, but lost opportunities after he first won his seat when he could have extracted solid, practical concessions from FF. Any word on Clare Daly?

  • Valenciano

Not looking promising for Daly with her vote down 2.5% and Dub North looks like 2FF, 1FG, 1GP

  • Garibaldy

    Cheers Valenciano.

I enjoyed Joe’s performances in the Dail. Certainly he was right in sticking up for immigrant workers but at the same time I wouldn’t like to see his ilk in power. No matter how well meaning he is his his outdated philosophy (greedy capitalist multinationals coming here to exploit our workers & cr*p like that- I certainly wouldn’t turn down a job at Intel!) is more at home in North Korea. At least he still has Bertie to carry the Socialist flag!

His policies aside I will miss his presence in the Dail.
