It has started

The Ryder Cup has finally got underway in Kildare, with Darren Clarke opening with a birdie.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already, but was that opening ceremony the most egregious example of Paddy-whackery you ever saw? Or is it just me? My flesh crawled watching it, especillay the big dance number about the Book of Kells. The monk with the thourible looked like Dawn French ffs.
Great reception for Darren, though, and I loved Tiger’s first shot.

I’m with you Donnacha but they don’t give a toss and if the rich Yanks want dancing monks, dancing monks it is.

I thought it was Dawn French and what did Sharon do to her hair?

  • Donnacha

Christ, that was HAIR? I thought it was a helmet.

Heard it on the radio: that was enough for me. Thank goodness the wind dropped this morning. Prefer to play golf (“if only I had the time“) than watch it, but Ryder Cup and the Masters are two exceptions!

My only reaction is to say thank God those bloody ads of over. Golf is simply a good way to keep middle aged men out from under their wives feet. Any activity where you need not break into a sweat is not a sport in my book.

Congratulations Europe! I haven’t cried watching golf before but I must say I was misty eyed watching Darren most of the way round – what a man!

Clarke for BBC Sports Personality of the Year – lets get the campaign started!
