Bishops and Union clashes

INTO members are unhappy following a letter from the Bishops instructing prinicpals of maintained schools to hold a “catholic ethos” day as part of staff development.A Scottish bishop recently urged teachers in Catholic schools to be “Catholic to their fingertips” and he considered teachers “among his closest co-workers”.

So Catholic hierarchy want catholic schools to be catholic. Funny that.

  • kensei

    I’m horrified.

  • Donnacha

So am I. Ban Catholic schools NOW! Christ, I’m turning into Lawrie McIntyre….

Campaigners for integrated education must be delighted by this. The Catholic argument against integration is that their schools have a distinctive ethos to preserve. Now it seems they are admitting that they don’t actually have this ethos in place yet, and the opposition from INTO suggests that the teachers are going to help them put it in place.
I wonder what proportion of teacher sin Catholic schools still lead their classes in prayer at anytime during the day. It used to be customary to stand a say a Hail Mary every time the period bell rang.

    Sorry, that should have been:
and the opposition from INTO suggests that the teachers are NOT going to help them put it in place.

“what proportion of teacher sin” ?????

I went on several team building exercises during the course of my last year. OMG! We didn’t have any team spirit before that! Try to engage your brain.

I left a Catholic Grammar 6 years ago. Some teachers said prayers before, some didn’t. If this has changed in the last 6 years I will eat my hat.

I spent fourteen years in Catholic schools and I never recall having to say the Hail Mary every time the bell rang. I left school twenty one years ago so maybe it was introduced after I left, but I doubt it somehow.

The same people who condemn the Madras schools in Pakistan promote the identical indoctrination in neo-con, nazi facist christian church schools.

    With us or against us!!!!

With us means Nazi Christians, with their brainwashing church schools.

Against us means Nazi muslims, with their nazi Madras brainwashing schools.

I thought children went to school to be educated not indoctrinated.
