Sinn Fein and DUP addicted to power?

That’s the view of SDLP MP Eddie McGrady. He argues that the lack of transparency around their backroom dealings allows both parties maximum power in setting the macro conditions for future politics, with no opportunity for the publics they represent to scrutinise the executive power currently setting legislation over a range of areas.

Does Eddie McGrady not remember the secrecy around the Belfast Agreement?

fair_deal, indeed. In fact I remember John Alderdice calling for the talks process back then to be televised (due to the farce transpiring day in day out), and AFAIK all of the other parties shot down that idea.

The process as it stands is largely the work of the SDLP. They are only complaining now that they are not on top, and as such they are now reaping what they’ve sown. I hope their dirty self-serving attitude for the past ten years leads to their destruction.
