Estimates matched matériel

The head of the decommissioning body, John de Chastelain, was severely grilled by the assorted media at the press conference.. and, although he emphasised that the Decommissioning Body itself is satisfied that the PIRA arsenal has been fully decommissioned – based on security forces’ estimates, and on the matériel they witnessed – when asked if there could be other weapons still being held by PIRA, he acknowledged that, in a phrase that is likely to resurface in the weeks and months ahead, “We can never be completely certain”.

“We can never be completely certain”.

But you could never be completely certain, even if you took a photograph of every weapon destroyed.

Lets not kid ourselves. The DUP are politicians, they would have found some ‘fault’ regardless of how accommodating the IRA were.

“We can never be completely certain”.

Indeed we can’t, but denying those of us who are quite understandably sceptical any kind of physical evidence is a major mistake if SF/IRA were really interested in resoring the assembly. SF/IRA are clearly more concerned at playing to their own audience than working with their fellow citizens of Northern Ireland.

Oh, yes… and the Good Reverand Paisley is just the soul of cooperation and a model of tolerance to be emulated. He’s not playing to a narrow, sectarian audience, not him.

Will Peter Robinson & Ian Paisley co-operate with the general regarding the dup/ulster resistance weapons ?

  • Comrade Stalin

    Keith,

Is Harold Good a liar ?

If is is, then say so and explain why.

If is not, then what’s the problem ?

  • David Vance

Is he a military expert, Comrade Stalin. Does the Methodist Church have an Armaments analysis wing? No, but it does have a useful fool or two amongst it and Goody two shoes falls into this camp.

There is no problem however. No one in Unionism – apart from Sir Reg and Alan McFarland – has any confidence in this Methodist cleric of whom the IRA so approves.

Get back to me when the IRA had disbanded and desisted from its rafia activities. Oh – and when we see the photo’s of this glorious and noble act of..surrender.

  • looking in

is he a military expert no, but are you? Any tube knows it is simple to rearm at any time – decomm. is a smokescreen – quite literally the last shot the IRA fired was to shoot the DUP/looney loyalist fox of decommissioning

    disbanded… see answer above

You’re a tribe are without an idea where to move politically; instead of investing so much time is disbelief how about trying to take some time to develop a integrated policy to move NI politics a bit on from the past, or is that just too difficult?

  • Comrade Stalin

Is he a military expert, Comrade Stalin.

No, but neither was the DUP’s preferred nominee.

apart from Sir Reg and Alan McFarland – has any confidence in this Methodist cleric of whom the IRA so approves.

Is he a liar ? Or is he telling the truth ? On what basis is confidence lacked ?

Get back to me when the IRA had disbanded and desisted from its rafia activities. Oh – and when we see the photo’s of this glorious and noble act of..surrender.

I think joint authority will be in place long before that happens. You might not accept what has happened, but the rest of the world, including the US government you’re fond of apologizing for, does. You can either go with the flow, or watch as the union is torn out from under your feet as a consequence of your own bigotry and intransigence.

70 odd % of people in northern ireland DIDN’T vote for the dup at the last election.

  • empty gun case

“SF/IRA are clearly more concerned at playing to their own audience”

There goes the master plan of taking the north Antrim seat at the next election then.
