Late breaking news…

‘GORGEOUS’ George Galloway wins for the anti-war Respect party; a blow for Tony Blair… Ex-NIO security minister Adam Ingram holds his seat, and is jeered by anti-war protesters… Education Secretary Ruth Kelly, who is from Limavady, holds her seat after her office was attacked by members of the protest group Fathers 4 Justice… NIO minister John Spellar holds on comfortably despite a 6.1% drop in the share of his vote… Same story with Ian Pearson, whose share falls 4.5%… Angela Smith sees the gap between her and the Tories close, and drops 9.3%… And even a drop of 5.2% in Secretary of State Paul Murphy’s share hardly dents his massive majority in Torfaen…More results here. Apologies for the links only going to the BBC, but it’s 5am…

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzz……..

See you at the count.

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.

Slugger does not receive any funding, and we respect our readers, so we will never run intrusive ads or sponsored posts. Instead, we are reader-supported. Help us keep Slugger independent by becoming a friend of Slugger. While we run a tight ship and no one gets paid to write, we need money to help us cover our costs.
