Republic still benefits from EU…

It seems that, up until enlargement at least, the Republic and Portugal have been recipients of the largest amounts of subsidy from the EU – with the Netherlands providing the biggest per capita input to European coffers.

The people of the ROI NEED all they can get judging by the experience of a friend who took his son for breakfast at Dublin Airport at the week-end….. One adult breakfast, one child

Liver, bacon, sausage, white pudding, 2 eggs, fried bread and tea or coffee!

The prices in Ireland are ridiculous.

They’re relatively less ridiculous in NI. I think it’s only in the South where the prices are getting out of hand.

How do salaries compare between North & South. I always thought Norwegian prices were shocking but they seem to manage just fine anyway.

  • willowfield

Don’t know. I suspect Southern salaries are higher. At the top end, anyway.

  • Davros

I have heard that as well WF. Was reading yesterday that the Gap between rich and poor in the ROI is one of the widest in Europe.

‘Was reading yesterday that the Gap between rich and poor in the ROI is one of the widest in Europe.’

With the good ole US of A being one of the few countries (or was it the only?!?) where the gap was worse. Makes you think!
