THE DUP’s Gregory Campbell has not backed away from supporting the family of Peter McBride, in their bid to remove his murderers from the British Army. Is he the first unionist to have done so?
Mr Campbell told the Irish News: “I support any campaign to ensure that the MoD is transparent in relation to issues where soldiers are convicted of manslaughter or murder and is allowed back into the army or is subsequently promoted.
“I do not think that the MoD should be taking these decisions in secret.
“If they believe that such a soldier should be allowed to stay in the army or be promoted then they should allow the public to hear the facts,” he said.
We are reader supported. Donate to keep Slugger lit!
For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.
