What you see depends on where you stand. Nicholas Whyte, Visiting Professor at Ulster University and a Senior Director at the Brussels office of consultancy APCO Worldwide, has been monitoring the Brexit process at close quarters since the beginning. He will report on the dynamics of Brexit from within the EU as it worked out how to deal with Britain’s departure, and speculate on what may happen next.

Bio: Nicholas Whyte, senior director at APCO Worldwide, has more than two decades of experience in international affairs, advocacy and research. Since joining APCO in 2014, Dr Whyte has been leading the Global Solutions practice in the Brussels office, overseeing work with a strong geopolitical dimension including APCO’s work with the 2018 Bulgarian Presidency of the European Union. He was recognized in 2017 and 2018 as one of the top 40 online EU Influencers on Twitter.

Previously Dr. Whyte was director of the Brussels office of Independent Diplomat, where he served as a key advisor to governments and organizations on foreign policy and strategic alliances. Prior to his work at Independent Diplomat, Dr. Whyte directed the International Crisis Group’s Europe program, where he led field research, analysis, policy prescription and advocacy activities in the Balkans, the Caucasus, Cyprus and Moldova. Dr. Whyte also advised Kosovo, Montenegro and South Sudan on their paths to independence, Croatia on its EU membership negotiations, and the opposition in Georgia on their international outreach strategy.

Nicholas Whyte is a graduate of Cambridge University and holds a doctorate from the Queen’s University of Belfast. He has maintained the online Northern Ireland elections archive since 1998, as part of the ARK social policy hub since 2002. He has been a Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Social Science at Ulster University since 2015.
