BBC NI and Radio Ulster: big changes ahead…

TODAY is the last time in many years that Inside Politics will be broadcast on Radio Ulster on a Saturday, writes presenter Mark Devenport (pictured). His guests at 12.45pm are two Euro-candidate barristers; TUV leader Jim Allister and the SDLP’s Alban Maginness. From April 5, it’s on Sundays after the 1pm news, and 10 mins longer. Instead, ex-UTV chat show king Gerry Kelly is going to be broadcasting on a Saturday from April 4 on Radio Ulster. Popular fellow, but irrelevant to me. From memory, my favourite grumpy old git David Dunseith is going to be moved from Talkback to Seven Days on a Sunday, to be replaced by Wendy Austin (who I can’t listen to – though she has her fans). And I think Mark Carruthers is getting shifted off Let’s Talk, IIRC. Dunno what’s happening with Conor Bradford, old chep, or indeed housewives’ favourite Will Crawley. I’d take William on the radio over Wendy any day. Which sounds kind of filthy when I read it back.

“my favourite grumpy old git David Dunseith is going to be moved from Talkback to Seven Days on a Sunday, to be replaced by Wendy Austin”

    Shocking.

  • Fair Deal

Overall it looks like a bit of dumbing down.

  • On RMS Titanic, of deckchairs, re-arrangement

    Sorry

Is any of this thread serious?

    UTV owns Talksport.

Replacing David Dunseith with Wendy Austin is Dumbing Down?

    Not in my book.
