Paddy’s Day sporting pot of gold

Before you sit down to watch Homer and Bart’s Irish episode exclusive tonight, don’t forget the Paddy’s Day sporting feast that is on offer today. With both Schools’ Cup Finals being screened on BBC (Gaelic football and rugby) and Crossmaglen Rangers’ latest All-Ireland final appearance going out on TG4, there is plenty for sporting aficionados to enjoy. Former Instonian Stephen Nolan is currently goading rival supporters of Methody on the biggest show…..), though he has begrudgingly just permitted the playing of the Methody school song live on Radio Ulster ahead of the meeting of the two rivals at Ravenhill later today.
The McCrory Cup Final is an all-Tyrone affair, with St Patrick’s Dungannon facing Omagh CBS, who knocked out my own former school, St Mary’s CBGS, in a thrilling semi-final several weeks ago.

  • Oh it would have been tense in my parent’s house as my mother who attended Methody and my late father a former teacher at Inst and rugby coach would have been gearing up from the final at Ravenhill. Maybe I’ll cheer on the guys from RBAI just to make her feel appreciated.

  • The Reincarnation of Paul Revere’s Horse

Hard to see past a Crossmaglen Rangers win today but it should be tight.

Looking forward most of all to seeing the hurling though. Joe Canning is worth the price of admission alone.
