“If this examination had been completed in February..”

The DUP’s Ian Paisley Jnr is claiming to have been exonerated by a report by the Assembly Ombudsman

“If this examination had been completed in February of this year before I resigned, I would not have resigned as a minister.”

It’s a claim he’s made before on other matters relating to his resignation. The latest report, entirely coincidentally, was leaked to BBC NI’s Stephen Nolan. But, as he predicted at the start of June, David Gordon reminds us today

..a number of other complaints against the DUP MLA and his father are still in the system at both the Assembly and House of Commons.

How’s that brand doing again? Adds Committee on Standards and Privileges press release.

I think that our average unionist punter here is thoroughly cheesed off with the perceived level of sleaze in the general unionist Assembly membership. They don’t even care anymore – They are just biding their time until an election opportunity allows them to dump the DUP not just on sleaziness but also on their startling policy turn-around where they put SF into comfortable government positions.
The UUP will fare no better either with, among other things, the complete cover-up of their Mid-Ulster MLA’s ‘planning irregularities’.
My take on it at the moment is that the TUV would take approx 33% of the unionist vote with DUP and UUP also on approx 33%.
What a pity young Robbo couldn’t chuck old senescent Reggie out and make a shape in putting the general unionist house in order. Now it seems to be all up to one Jim Allister!
