Zimbabwe’s endless election

The situation in Zimbabwe has become no less dreadful. I previously suggested that ZANU-PF’s strategy might be simply to keep the election result secret. I never really contemplated that they would actually do so for over a month. The Zimbabwe electoral commission has now announced that it has started to verify the results (whatever that means). It is unclear how long this process will take. As I suggested previously this delay may have been a ploy to make people less surprised by the need for a run off and allow time for intimidation to be deployed prior to it. There certainly seems to be no lack of violence. In this climate the MDC may well continue to refuse to take part in a further election and even if a count does occur it is highly unlikely to be free and fair.

    Gregory ,

After a series of posts, in 1983 he (Nyarota) became editor of The (Bulawayo) Chronicle, the nation’s second-largest newspaper.’

The Chronicle was always worth a read although print quality left a lot to be desired 🙂 Hands needed washing and sitting on it for any lenght of time could mean a new pair of pants !

During his (Nyarota’s)tenure the paper launched a major investigation – into the “Willowgate scandal” in 1988 that linked government officials with corruption at the Willowvale Motor plant. While other newspapers in the nation ignored the story, The Chronicle’s coverage led to the resignation of four government ministers. Another committed suicide. Nyarota eventually lost his job. Chronicle management said it was “for his own safety

Absolutely and it was’nt just Nyarota . At that time (1988)the Chronicle started to look a little ‘neglected’ -supplies of quality paper and good quality printers ink dried up. Govt ‘advertising’ was reduced and as Bulawayo was the ‘matabele’ city it got it in the neck so to speak .

So a month after the election African leaders apart from one or two are still in a state of denial re ‘democracy’ in Zimbabwe . Kofi Annan has spoken out so too has Desmond Tutu but overall the sound of silence in the world media is almost deafening .

  • Say what you like about Zimbabwe, at least the polling stations closed on time, unlike in, oh let’s say, Garrison.

    watchman,

Shure they had to finish their pints in the pub and wait for the soccer to be over before they could be dragged to the polling booth .

Democracy is a spectrum . Zimbabwe has fallen off one end of the spectrum . The UUP fell off it’s end after 50 years . I don’t want to imagine what NI’s politics will be like after say 20 years of forced power sharing . Well look on the bright side at least it won’t be like Zimbabwe eh?

So now we read that there is to be a run off following the ‘appearance ‘ of 120,000 votes which increased Mugabe’s total to 43% .

The bastard simply won’t give up ‘power’ . Democracy is okay as long as he wins . So just another third world despot. We could be looking at another African bloody civil war in the making:(

The elections result in Zimbabawe have now been officially announced, after delays, due to a court case brought by the MDC,and a recount sought by the ZANU-PF . The results have been known by anyone who really wanted to know as the British and Americans stooges party, the MDC-T announced the results as they were posted immediately outside of every polling station after the count. The MDC by doing so, broke a agreement brokered by the ZEC , that no person or party would announce the results other than the ZEC.( Zimbabawe Electoral Commission.) All the lies, scaremongering , and disinformation spewed out on a daily basis by the BBC ,and other so called impartial media have been exposed as trash and lies. They daily claimed that ZANU-PF , would steal the elections as by rigging the vote , then they claimed if the MDC-T won, that Mr Mugabe, would call on his Generals support ,to stay in power. They also broadcast utter lies a few days after the elections that Mr Mugabe was , preparing to handover of power to the British stooge party the MDC-T. As I predicated that Mr Mugabe and his party would accept the results no matter what the outcome. So much for election rigging lies spewed out by the BBC , as ZANU-PF won 97 seats , MDC-T,99, 10 seats ,MDC, and Independent 1 seat. The Kenya type violence predicted by the BBC and other Western state media , were thousands died in inter party violence, after disputed results there, and what the British establishment and BBC craved , never materialised. As regards the Presidential election, there will be a run off between Mr Mugabe and the British backed liar and stooge Morgan Tswangira. Again ZANU-PF will accept the results, will Tswangira?, I doubt it ,if he loses . Already he is playing games saying he will not tke part in the run off , fearing arrest , intimidation etc, this from a man who criss crossed Zimbabawe , freely during the elections, campaigning. I beleive the liar will take part in the run off , and from the moment he says he will , the British establashiment , will give the nod once again to their poodles in the BBC , to go into overdrive once again with all sorts of allegations about vote stealing ,rigging , intimidation, beatings , detentions etc against the MDC-T Party, and they will duly oblige.

  • I agree with Sean. The MDC are just as much demagogues as Zanu-PF and the breakaways.

    Sean,

Will the 3 to 4 million Zimbabwean refugees forced to flee the country by Mugabe and his North Korean trained thugs get a vote ? What are Mugabe’s policies for Zimbabwe when he ‘wins’ the next round ?

Perhaps an increase to 7 million refugees from the present 4 million or an increase inthe inflation rate from 1,000 % to 5,000 % ?
Come on Sean let us know how ZANU PF will restore Zimbabwe to being just an ordinary banana republic instead of the world’s most bankrupt state ?

Greenflag – As many as two million Zimbabweans have lost their jobs or livelihood , due to the illegal and racist sanctions imposed mainly by Britain and Americana called for by their stooges in the MDC, their leader MI5 Tswangira. Just like the sanctions imposed by the West on Iraq ,which claimed the lives of over two hundred thousand Iraq children under five , as medicine was used as a weapon for regime change. The West is again using one of it most lethal weapons , and the aim is to squeeze the Zimbabwean people , so as they will learn sense as they see it, and oust the Government of ZANU-PF and install their chosen puppet Tswangira. Sanctions have brought the Zimbabawe economy nearly to economic ruin, and great hardship to it people , and MI5 Tswangira, who called for the sanctions ,and still is calling for more , then uses the devastating effects of the sanctions as proof of the collapse of the country economy , which he then blames on the Government. Tswangira , has even called for sanctions on children of prominent members or supporters of the Government, who are studying abroad, and calls for them to be expelled from their host country. This from a man who claim to have no assets and only has a Trade Union salary, yet he has recently enrolled two of his children in one of the top Public Schools in Australia. You might ask yourself who paying for the lavish lifestyle this man has suddenly acquired, and it not hard to see who i the paymaster. Even the very T Shirts worn by MDC Supporters are bought and paid for by British and American posing as impartial observers and election educators, during the elections. Tswangira when recently asked by a French journalist ,at a press conference in Jo,Burg , was his campaign to oust the Zimbabawe goverment financed by Britain and America, refused to answer the question , under the pretext that it was irrelevant. The hundred or more racist white settler farmers , who gathered at a well known watering hole outside of Harare, firing their legally held weapons into the midnight sky , after believing the lies by the MDC that they had won a landslide victory over the ZANU-PF Government, will have to keep their powder dry for a little while longer it appears. Regarding the comments Abdual Rahim, Im more than capable of fighting my own corner and do not need to post under any other name. Your slur is childish and immature, for starters, he does not agree with me as ,he infers that ZANU-PF and Mr Mugabe as Demagogues, something which is totally and utter nonsense. Sometimes when I replay to a post, I have a suspicion that it is Greenflag , using another name to help bolster his argument, but I would never accuse you of stooping so low , or I would never make a claim that Abdual Rahim is also you. Although I got my suspicions.

Sanctions eh? The reality is that, once again, black governments are killing their black populations by stealing all the well meaning aid from white countries, and blaming their failures on the white governments interference. Gleefully supported by the black politicians, race baiting, ‘we don’t need to be responsible’, liars and thieves in the very same white government. Mexicans, risking their lives to come here and work 20hrs a day for peanuts, has left the whole ‘racist white America is holdin’ me down’ singin’ black welfare state looking like what they are. Dependant and heavy with the entitlement mantra preached to them by their pols and pastors. Guess what, nobody cares. We are moving on. Mr and Mrs Obama are the new black America. Africa is not on their radar screen. Historically, in Africa, they kill each other, tribally, on a regular basis. Tell me how much better Zimbabwe would be today if the white man never came. Or, get in the old ‘steal from whitey, cause he done me wrong’ line.
That line used by the leaders, and the bounty of their theft goes to bank accounts, the starving population be damned.
Since 1960 the United States has funnelled approximately $30 billion in aid to Africa, and to what end? Let the rest of the world waste their money for the next 20 years and see how that works out. Let’s see some African nations fork out their treasure to save their continental brothers…. Or STFU.
    Fat chance.

BfB America giving 30 billion dollars in aid to African countries is small change, as they then demand for this so called aid, that they open up their countries to their Multi National friends to plunder and steal, the mineral and oil , diamonds , and whatever else they can get their thieving hands on. Imperialist countries like America and Britain , only support Democracy , and call for it when it is sure it will be of benefit to them . If they were so interested in promoting Democracy , why do they not impose sanctions on the like of Egypt, Sudi Arabia, Kuwait, Israel, etc etc. Only last year the despotic ruler of Saudi Arabia, was given a full state welcome by the British Goverment, and a driven by carriage along with the Queen to to the Palace , were he dined at the Royal Table . This man represents one of the most corrupt and despotic regimes in the world , were calling for Democracy , political or human rights , would be a virtual death sentence. Not one word of protest or dissent from any of the so called liberals , human rights group etc , in fact complete sil;ence.

    Sean,

‘As many as two million Zimbabweans have lost their jobs or livelihood , due to the illegal and racist sanctions imposed mainly by Britain and Americana called for by their stooges in the MDC,’

Nonsense . I was there when the decline began and that was long before sanctions and long before the MDC existed.

‘The West is again using one of it most lethal weapons , and the aim is to squeeze the Zimbabwean people ,

The squeeze implemented by Mugabe and his thugs over the past 15 years has done more harm than any western sanctions ever could . Face the truth man and stop trying to defend a tyrant . You have more brains than that !

‘I’m more than capable of fighting my own corner and do not need to post under any other name.’

Good for you. Keep it up . As long as you keep hitting my fist with your face you are sure to make an impression .

‘Imperialist countries like America and Britain , only support Democracy , and call for it when it is sure it will be of benefit to them .’

I wish they did . But when you look at the facts the benefit of fighting to expand democracy seems to have almost destroyed the American economy . Not very bright was it to go to war for 5 years to see oil going up from 28 dollars to 120 dollars a barrel . I’m seriously beginning to bleive that the Americans were actually serious about exporting ‘democracy’ to Iraq and it has just backfired on them due to poor execution and even poorer political judgement once Hussein was toppled from power.

‘ If they were so interested in promoting Democracy , why do they not impose sanctions on the like of Egypt, Sudi Arabia, Kuwait, Israel, etc etc. Only last year the despotic ruler of Saudi Arabia, was given a full state welcome by the British Goverment, and a driven by carriage along with the Queen to to the Palace , were he dined at the Royal Table . This man represents one of the most corrupt and despotic regimes in the world , anybody calling for Democracy , political or human rights , would be subject to a virtual death sentence. Not one word of protest or dissent from any of the so called liberals , human rights group etc , in fact complete silence.’

Well here at least Sean I have to agree with you . It is a disgrace to attempt to promote democracy in Iraq while shoring up despotism in next door Saudi Arabia . It’s called ‘national interest’ . Call it the way of the world .

The future is going to be replete with ‘resource’ wars of which oil will only be one . Try to imagine the western world with oil only affordable by a small minority and no alternative power/energy source. In that situation you can be sure that Saudi Arabia would suddenly need ‘liberation’ !

  • BfB

‘If they were so interested in promoting Democracy , why do they not impose sanctions on the like of Egypt, Sudi Arabia, Kuwait, Israel, etc etc.’

I agree with you on this point. I carry no water for those states… My point was that America gives more than it’s share in some locations, for goodwill purposes. No strings attached. You sit up on your prissy opinion mound and sling arrows in our direction with all the trendy labels. Get your effin third world, police state country out there to help or stfu. Simple, really.

Greenflag – dont talk nonsense, America went to Iraq to promote democracy . America propped up the Iraq regime , for decades , supplying it with all types of weaponry , chemicals etc ,so as the regime could slaughter it own people and cause the deaths of over one million Iranians lives , in a proxy war of behalf of the great Satan itself. Saddam Hussein only fell out of favour with the American regime, when he demanded they compensate him for the war aganist Iran , which he stared at their request, and which destroyed the Iraq economy. They knew he was getting to big for his boots , and encouraged him to invade Kuwait, which was once a integral part of Iraq , which British Imperialism created. He duly obliged ,thinking they would turn a blind eye, the rest is well documented history. America is now paying the price , and we all will do for, the illegal and horrendous suffering they have inflicted on the Iraq people to steal their resources . To date over two hundred and fifty thousand Iraq , men women and children have died at the hands of the Americans,3000 young brainwashed , mainly poor and black American soldiers, have also died in this grand theft. Approx 1200, returning soldiers have committed suicide on returning, and several thousand AWOL soldiers , are living in Canada, refusing to fight the dirty war for oil. America thought she was going to walk into Iraq, without resistance , and be met with people , throwing flowers in their path, and they would create a sham Democracy, which they would then force it to sell of the assets of Iraq to American interest. The Iraq people were no fools , and know Americans could not give two shits about democracy, and were there for only one thing , their oil. They have put up heroic resistance , and sooner , rather and later , the great Satan , just like she had to flee Vietnam, she will one day hopefully soon be driven from Iraq. The American economy is in decline ,prices of basic commodities are rising fast, their dirty war in Iraq is costing them billions, and China within the next decade will be the worlds number one economic power house, that is when people should start to really worry, as their is no telling what the American regime in power might do.

“I agree with you on this point. I carry no water for those states”

That’s the problem, Pascal Taveirne, and Belgium was a NATO ally so he had a free pass.

I mean it is depressing, it sometimes feels as if the United States should simply stay out of things, it is my biggest problem

I was talking to the NCMEC today discussing how we make the pitch into the public domain relating to the kind of pepole who were attending child protection conferences (with the NCMEC).

At the behest of the British security services. It is a credibility and moral issue.

The NCMEC were simply out of their league when they met the Brits, they had no idea that James Bond often had a licence to do anything.

    What can one do.

The British and American financed stooge, Morgan Tswangira, (for the past few weeks or more) is staying and living in the lap of luxury at the home of one of his main covert sponsors in the Exclusive Houghton Estate in the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg, whilst many thousands of ordinary Zimbabweans who had to leave their homeland because of the effect of the illegal and racist sanctions imposed by mainly the British and Americans at his request, linger in the same city, not in the exclusive leafy suburbs, but in the now slum areas of Hillbrow, Joubert Park,Yeoville, and downtown Jo.Burg.

Tswangira and his top generals in the MDC, meet daily with their forign handlers , as they plan their response to take part or not to take part in a run of with Mr Mugabe in the Presidential elections. His first reaction , was not enough time to organise his support , and he feared arrest if he went home. All the same lies and propaganda he spewed out during the recent parliamentary elections , which his party won by the way.

In the recent elections , his party on a daily basis , fed the Western Poodle media, a daily diet of unsubstantiated allegations of the Goverment of Mr Mugabe , which they claimed were planing all sorts of vote rigging ,intimidation , Generals and Army swapping ballot boxes etc. The list of false and blatant lies which he and his MDC Party fed the Western media , and which they in turn fed to the gullible public is endless .

The western media not only fed the daily diet of lies to the gullible, but they them selves fabricated also unsubstantiated allegations and lies aganist the Zimbabwean Goverment.

The British and American press , particularly the BBC, CNN, ITV,and SKY, all appear to read from the one script, and without any doubt, have thrown any pretence of fair ,impartial ,or objective, journalism out the window.
On these unashamedly biased networks you will never hear one voice of a supporter of ZANU-PF.

They will never mention the horrendous effect Sanctions called for by Tswangira, and imposed by the British and Americans has had on the Zimbabwean people. They will also not mention the effects the recent droughts have had on the farming community. The effects , that the Zimbabwean Goverment is denied their right to raise loans on mainly American and British controlled institutions. They will never mention the effect sanction have had on imports, of spare parts for agricultural machinery, industrial machinery etc. Land Reform is only mentioned when they try and garner sympathy for the elite white racist mainly British Settlers. The huge success of severall hundred thousand of Zimbabweans reclaiming their ancestral lands is never shown in a positive light.

These facts are totally ignored , and all the blame for the economic situation is laid at the door of Mr Mugabe and his Goverment.

Chris Mc Greal, a journalist of the Guardian , and their anchor man in Zimbabawe and S. Africa, for severall years wrote a recent article in which he lambasted the Western media for well planned and deliberate demonetisation of Mr Mugabe, and pointed out that the country love affair with Mr Mugabe only turned sour when he started to fast track Land Reform after Blair, refused to continue paying compensation agreed under the Lancaster House Agreement , and which the previous Goverment of Thatcher was Honoring.

He pointed out also , that their were many and varied factors that have brought Zimbabawe to the situation it was in today and it was wrong and misleading to lay all the blame at Mr Mugabe door.

This is one hell of a turn around for a journalist , who for the past number of years , first reporting from inside Zimbabwe, and then from S.Africa, were he went when booted out for allegedly , reporting false allegations as fact without any verifiable basis what soever , all aganist the Goverment of Zimbabawe . MC Greal was nothing more than a MDC, Tswangira groupie, and cheer leader.

Even he knows that everything said and reported from Zimbabawe should be take with a grain of salt.

But he himself , must sometimes feel ashamed , that he did not speak up sooner ,and examine his conscience, when he fired the first shots in the deliberate and planned demonetisation of Mr Mugabe. I sure he will continue to take anti Mr Mugabe /ZANU-PF, stance, and his reason for being honest on this occasion , is more to protect his own image, as he knows when impartial historians , in the future unearth the fact behind the Western Media Part, attemped regime change in Zimbabawe , he can in some way claim he was impartial and not part of the organized assault on Mr Mugabe.

Tswangira will once again, will take part in the Presidential run off, I have no doubt what so ever, even thought he said he would never

The man simply does not beleive his own lies.
