Luntz: this is about as complicated as it gets for any country’s electorate…

Again on RTE: Frank Luntz reckons that ‘Pub politics…’ is the key to Bertie’s success… “People were angry with him, and they like they way they took it…” He’s clearly struggling with how his idea of a contract with the people, he sold to Enda and Fine Gael didn’t seem to work… “You are much more civil, you are much more decent to each other…”

just watched Bertie express his condolences to the losers, compare this to how some of our own have behaved in the past, Dodds and his comments on defeating Walker spring to mind, the secret of Berties sucess is his apparent decency

    Pub politics?

    Parish pump surely?

The FF machine was credited by Bertie and worked a wonder. Fair play to it.

    A wonder to behold.

Yes, it is a nice trait – and one people like: I remember John Major’s generosity to Tony Blair in 1997 and, while Major’s party collapsed about him, he still won his seat with a 20,000 majority.

Not much magnanimity towards McDowell, mind.

Luntz said at the weekend that FG success was despite Kenny not because of him. Fair point.
