Welsh AMs fail to agree..

It might well have been part of the “blatant electioneering in Labour’s deputy leadership contest” but the Secretary of State for Wales etc, Peter Hain’s, declared nightmare scenario of “a one-way street to irrelevance for Wales” is on the agenda following the decision by Plaid Cymru to suspend talks with the Welsh Labour Party whilst continuing talks on a coalition with the Tories and Lib Dems. Although, not all Plaid Cymru AMs agree..

Leanne Wood, Bethan Jenkins, Helen Mary Jones and Nerys Evans said they were against a coalition with the Tories. Ms Wood said: “It is with regret that we do not agree with the decision made in our group meeting. We respectfully disagree.

Plaid and the SNP face a similar dilemma. Whether or not to scare off potential supporters who will treat the Tories as bogeymen for a long time to come.

My take is that it is still far too early to give the Tories a chance. Their legacy has left a bad taste, however should they shake off the shackles of London it may help their inevitable re-integration and acceptance in Scotland and Wales.

    Real dilemma

How long could a Plaid Cymru/Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition possibly last? Getting into bed with the Conservatives sends the message to Wales that its acceptable to vote Tory again, and Plaid will not like a Cameron government.

Since devolution however the Tories in Wales seem to be cool with the Process….. blasted difficult choices !!! Labour just got no coherence !

    I’m voting yes ………….

    Dewi.

However reluctant the Tories were for devolution in Scotland, they have certainly warmed to it now. Indeed some of their intellectuals ;¬) are latter day converts to an independent Scotland, reckoning that we shouldn’t stop half-way so to speak.

I’m not sure getting into bed with the Tories will help you in the valleys. You need to break into labour heartlands. Getting into bed with the Tories will make it easier for them to scare people off a la west-central Scotland.

    I wouldn’t, you’ll regret it in the morning ;¬)

prince – it’s the morning and I’m regretting it !…..

There was an idea floated pre-election that it might be best if Labour beat the SNP because Labour at Westminster was on a downward slide. Meaning that the SNP could reap the reward of opposing an unpopular government. Maybe it could be a godsend for Plaid to have the chance to become a strong opposition. Thus reaping any future reward. *shrugs* who knows.

    Onwards to victory!

ps I hope you wore a condom, some of this upper-class bints like too much of the rough;¬)

Lots of Welsh politicians looking very foolish….
