Election migrating to the online world…

Also in the Irish Times (subs needed), Scott Jameson notes UUP Foyle candidate Peter Munce’s blog (we understand others will also blog there) and a bunch of other innovations, including Sinn Fein’s South and East Belfast site (largely a disaggregated press release feed), which should launch today sometime… It doesn’t mention our internet radio interview with Reg Empey, who gives the most ‘clueful’ note of any Northern Irish politician yet on how the net works… You can also ‘catch it’ on iTunes…

Candidates have embraced cyberspace like never before, with the UUP setting up a dedicated campaign website, complete with Foyle candidate Peter Munce’s blog about his adventures on the election trail. Sinn Féin has welcomed the e-revolution as well, with videos on the YouTube site, and entries on the MySpace and Bebo social networking boards while the party’s chief negotiator Martin McGuinness is launching a special South Belfast web site today.
