Another two SF MLAs to stand down?

It looks like Thomas O’Reilly MLA in Fermanagh South Tyrone is standing down. This time he is explicit in saying it is not to do with policing (subs needed). Indeed there has been some speculation that Francie Molloy, currently in Mid Ulster, might be better played closer to his own power base around Pomeroy Coalisland in that constituency (which would then make the who of Mid Ulster well worth watching). The other name is Philip McGuigan in North Antrim who, despite having built a large personal vote in the constituency, is said to have caused some waves for the party over the handling of his environment brief.

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.

Slugger does not receive any funding, and we respect our readers, so we will never run intrusive ads or sponsored posts. Instead, we are reader-supported.
