Are you still following this? (you soon won’t be)…

Last week’s deadline was particularly fruitful for Newton Emerson’s Saturday round up in the Irish News. Not least:

It seems only fitting that Sinn Féin has replied to an agreement nobody agreed to with motion that doesn’t move. The party’s first official response to the St Andrews document declared that it “could represent a way forward” but only if it is “subject to delivery of… a number of core issues which have yet to be resolved”. The St Andrews deadline for a Sinn Féin vote on recognising the PSNI expired yesterday (Friday).

“…The St Andrews deadline for a Sinn Féin vote on recognising the PSNI expired yesterday (Friday).” , says Newton.

But so then presumably did “delivery of… a number of core issues which have yet to be resolved”. “. Has he any comment to make on that failure, I wonder?

At least there is some good news from the DUP. Nigel Dodds says it is inconceivable that Sinn Féin could have any say in policing “for a generation”. However, Nigel Dodds is the MP for north Belfast, so that means there could be movement in around 12 years.

Fnarr! Well I thought it was funny anyway…
