Ireland to take on England in one day international

Ireland will play England in a One Day International for the first time on 13 June, 2006 in Ireland although discussions are ongoing regarding the venue. Ireland’s qualification for the World Cup in 2007 ensured their move up to full ODI status. The team also claimed victory in the ICC Intercontinental Cup for the first time last month.

  • It HAS to be Eglinton.

  • Conor

Lets hope it doesnt take place at all. remember how those english thugs went on the rampage at landsdown road just because they couldnt take being beaten. they’ll never change.

  • George

It’s cricket Conor, I don’t think cricket fans have a history of rampaging.

  • esmereldavillalobos

George, I think that troll should be left well alone.

  • Where’s Ireland’s cricket “home ground”?

  • Conor

silly me eh. just read ‘ireland and england’ and went off on one. ah well. still, nothing wrong with highlighting that little bit of sporting history was there?

  • esmereldavillalobos

Why does it HAVE to be Eglinton? Is it because of the great infrastructure, weather, location on the island? I’d be interested to hear…

  • George

Depends what constitutes Ireland for you Maca 🙂

The game will probably be in Stormont as it has a much bigger capacity than Clontarf.

  • George
    🙂
Do they not have an official home ground or do they alternate between those two venues or what’s the story?

  • George

    Maca,
they alternate between the two and I couldn’t tell you if one of them is the “official home ground”.

  • Thanks George.
