President Bush's SCOTUS nominee withdraws

Mick previously noted the increasing difficulties facing President Bush’s nominee to the US Supreme Court, White House counsel, Harriet Miers. Today Harriet Miers announced she has withdrawn her nomination, sparing the President, potentially, further damaging displays of public opposition to the nomination from Senators of both parties.
