As if professional rugby players didn’t have enough games on their plate, Celtic League tournament director David Jordan, seeing the success of the British and Irish Lions, has come up with the idea of a “Celtic Tigers” side representing Scotland, Ireland and Wales, which would compete against the leading Test nations.
“If Celtic Rugby can develop as a brand then the possibilities are endless,” Jordan said.
“For example, you just have to look at the number of Lions jerseys that have been, and will be, sold this year.”
Soon your average rugger bugger will have a jersey for every day of the week.

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.
Slugger does not receive any funding, and we respect our readers, so we will never run intrusive ads or sponsored posts. Instead, we are reader-supported.
