New American route from Belfast…

Continental Airlines have agreed in principle to start a transatlantic service to Newark Airport in New York from Belfast International.

I’m sure it will be extortionately expensive. Flying anywhere from Belfast, apart from Britain, is ridiculous. Also, the fact that it is going into Newark is a bollocks. They should buid a railway line to DUB or lay on a decent bus service for us poor down trodden norderners.

Very positive response from Cahal, based entirely on fact.

Have any figures re the cost been floated anywhere.

    very good wf.
I am basing this on my own experiences. I have flown to several destinations from both Dublin and Belfast. Dublin has always been substantially cheaper. Especially when Aerlingus ran the Belfast to JFK flight (via Dublin). And yes, Newark is a pain in the ass for most people whose journey does not terminate in NYC or NJ. Ever tried getting from Newark to JFK?
As for a railway line to DUB, surely that would be a good thing?

Cost wise, I imagine it will run between 300 quid return off season to 700 peak season.
From dublin (aerlingus) it is around 200 quid return off season to 500 return peak season.

You imagine? Your comments about costs aren’t based on anything other than your imagination, then.
